sonicfire wrote: @ttoz: that could be a problem. but since i´m already sampling most of fx into the sounds i do not really need lfo and glide stuff for example. (ok, gliding perhaps).

but this should be supported by hopefully all big samplers that can import soundfonts? if not - okay, the sounds will rock anyway ;)
Sorry, bit late to the party, but here's my opinion:
Too much sampled LFOs and the likes IMO are no good idea as you'll lose things such as host syncing and tweakability.
Sure, especially when it comes to slowly sweeping pads, host sync might not be all *that* important, yet, personally I don't like too much things being printed into a sample.
Plus, the library would be of *way* more worth if the patches for the most commonly used samplers (Kontakt, HALion, most likely Wusikstation and probably EXS24) would be making use of the internal tweaking and modulation options.
In addition, a "generic" SF2 version would do good.

Also, one question (not sure whether it's been asked and answered allready): How many key layers are you using per patch? Softsamplers such as EXS, HALion and Kontakt aren't doing *all* that great when they've got to do too much internal pitching, so sampling keyzones in tritones at least would be a must (better: major or even minor thirds), especially in case your source samples allready got some movements going on.

Btw, if you need some help in setting up dedicated patches for some of the mentioned samplers, I could help you out with the Kontakt and EXS formats.

To somewhat demonstrate my point regarding dedicated patches for each sampler, here's a Kontakt pad I just did:
http://home.arcor.de/s.franck/temp/MovePad.mp3
As you can hear in the first 4 bars (which are more or less just the plain samples), the source material is rather rich allready, but it's still open for further modulations. From bar 5 on I'm turning the ModWheel up/down, which is lowering cutoff, raising resonance, raising step modulator intensity (which is again controlling cutoff) and fading in phaser and delay sends. In addition, the step modulator and delay are synced to host tempo (that's why I added the lame beat).

Personally, I just love patches that change a bit to something else when you use the ModWheel (or whatever modulation source).

@pw: yes, wusik format will also be available!

@elv: yep, i will set-up a server for it very soon. but initially it will be only available on DVD or CD-Set! :)

@sascha franck: you´re right but i think its easy for everyone to just do fx like filter and additional LFO and stuff themselve?
the problem is i dont know what work it would be to use the sampler´s internal effects. but i will keep that in mind :)

of course, some sounds have heavy modulation and LFO stuff but there will be also many(!) sounds that are clean or have only littel effects applied so that there´s still room for tweaking. :)

by the way: great pad!

I don't think so. At least many people just don't seem to do it - they seem to prefer "ready to go" patches instead.
And it takes some experience as well...

Well, it all depends. On the EXS for instance, setting up modulations is working like a breeze, but on the other hand, it's got only filters, envelopes and LFOs, no FX.

Kontakt has got about everything, but it's a more complexed effort to set it up in a way actually making sense. Yet, for the pad sample I posted it probably took me around 2-3 minutes to set up all the modulations.

well, you´re right. would be great to have some filters and stuff added that aren´t printed to the sound itself... :) i´l see what i came up with.

ok, some new audio-examples as well as a little demonstrational SF2 will come soon :hyper: :D

so far 1,908 single wav-samples and almost 3GB of data.

we´re getting there! :D

 Holy shit! i'd better get a bigger harddrive!

scam_artist wrote:, but I've always noticed CPU hits on SE stuff and you have to question whether the sound is worth it for the hit you're getting.

If you were to develop a ROMpler front end coded outside of SE (assembly or something) with a sexy GUI, you would have a ROMPler similar to those ones that cost lots and use a Kontakt player.

My point: get rid of the SynthEdit idea, code for efficiency so the CPU hit is reasonable, have a sexy GUI - and then you have every right to charge more than $100

Just trying to be honest with you here
I support this 100%, I personally will never buy again an SE rompler. I get CPU spikes with them, they play like 4 samples and it peaks 60% on my CPU... (a brief peak, but it is all what is needed for ccclicks and pops... ) With a proper sampling engine you can play a hundred voices....

Damn right, that´s why i create this thing as a sample-library :D

But a front-end will come also, later! :)

Download the Spacehawk Soundfont-Demo here:
spacehawk.exe (self-extracting UHA-File, approx. 50MB)

It contains some selected Spacehawk-Instruments in *.SF2 format.

Have fun!

some opinions please ;)

by the way: this little fender strato will also be in the spacehawk (electronic guitars and pads - nice mixture   )

Oh, there's some nice sounds in the demo file!
Just one question, did you use individual samples for left and right indeed? Because that's what Kontakt will convert them to (even if I have "combine to stereo" switched on in the preferences).

That Fender sounds great. Keep up the good work

What about Dimension Pro, I think this is gonna be big with a huge cakewak fanbase community.

Well it should work ok in Dimension and be pretty slick for it.

DG.

Great job Sonicfire. I downloaded the demo and I must say, you've just sold another copy! As soon as this library comes out I plan to be amongst the first to buy it.

As for anyone who doesn't like it, I can't imagine how they can feel that way after playing with the demo. The sounds in this thing just beg to be played.

Also, I don't think it's a good idea to compare this to H.G. Fortune stuff. I personally am not a big fan of the H.G. synths, and the sounds these two products offer are very different.

In the end I'd say quit yer whining and whip out the plastic. $70 for 3 gigs worth of this stuff is a steal!
Excuse all the blood.
