pasted from my post in looptalk:

was given a track of a girl playing acoustic guitar and singing, to no time base.

thankfully, it was multitrack, So i can take the vocals out and arrange a different background for them.

Someone told me live could time warp really well, tried that, and live sucks.

So, what i did was cut up every phrase i could of the vocals, named them by the lyrics sung (and numbered them), got a general tempo of 91 bpm in FL, and i can see that working this way in FL could actually work REALLY well, with the timestreching.

If there is a phrase that is too long, I can drag it over a bit and shorten it with elastique. The quality is excellent.

also same applies with lengthening it.

I would really appreciate some tips on how to work with audio in this respect in FL 5.02d.'

now heres the big question.

How the heck do you do tempo chaanges with audio that is being streched?

If you have 12 bars of 91 bpm, that is all streched to fit that, how can you have 2 bars of 85? Wont it strech EVERYTHING to 85?

This would be a big limitation, and im currently stuck now :(

here is what i want to do:

Just use "make unique" function from sample's menu on the playlist :)

I think If you cut the Segment of your Audio which you want it has different tempo stretching and use "Make Unique" option for that segment you can stretch only that without affecting everything else

.... i can't believe people do that kind of shit in Fruity Loops... a separate channel/sample for every vocal phrase? You've gotta be kidding me :)

Have you tried a real sequencer yet?

I'd totally disagree on that point.
It depends on which grain type you use and how you tweak it in Live.
You also need to know how too warp marker your material correctly to yield the best results.
It isn't just a whack it in a hey presto kind of deal.
You do have 4 grain types too choose from including Complex Mode - if you just used beats mode I'm not suprised it "sucked".
The realtime audio stretching in LIVE is damn good in general and one of it's definate strong points.
I still feel Live would be best for the job.
Hey if you wanna do it the hardway thats fine.

actually, i used complex mode, and since there are tempo changes and lives interface is simply disgusting imo, its not worth it for me.

Its actually quite easy once you get the flow.

be calm dude! There are several approach for doing that in FL : Wave Traveller (Every Stretch Setting Will be defined on a single key) , Granulizer , Slicer and "Make Unique".

Fruityloops is a Great Host like others and has it's special highLights like Live,XT and others.

what is a "real" sequencer? one that is bogged down with useless features, and perhaps one that comes in the way of creativity? hmm, not interested.

Anyhow, you dont HAVE to do it this way. You CAN just put the whole thing in, see:

fl makes it so easy i smile :D

Wierdness.

Why do you care how other people do it?
If it works for them that's cool isn't it?

Different Strokes for different folks.

ACID works the same way (1 sample per track) and
many people think it's a "real sequencer".

Have you actually tried FL STUDIO?
And I mean the latest version... not version 1.2

"What do you consider to be a real sequencer"?
