Loaded a piano I couldn't play glitch free on Kompakt.
No tweaks, no edits, played great on Kontakt 2.
Sweet.
Is it that much more effective than Kompakt?!? Sounds incredible sweet! I guess you are in the middle of customizing MegaPianos in Kontakt, kan you keep us posted on your results?

Kind regards.

After playing more.....
More effective, yes - still not perfect. The new 1.4 CPU meter allows you to see what's going on more. THe CPU use overall stays pretty low, but there are spikes, giving you the dreaded glitches. I'm guessing this is because you're streaming from the same drive as the system, and that ultimately this is insurmountable. I'll be curious to see if Ivory fares better.
Kontakt does work better than Kompakt however, and has other distinct advantages. 1) You can set different "groups" to stream from disk or from RAM. So you can do stuff like put all of the release samples in RAM, thus halving the amout of samples that need to be called up from disc. Or, create a group consisting of the area that your right hand will tend to "go nuts" and stream the left hand. 2) You can use the script editor to decrease polyphony through self-masking. 3) Voice stealing works better and you have more control over it. 4) You can actually edit your sample libraries, so you can make them smaller in areas that don't "count" as much, like the lowest octave, etc.

I also haven't messed much with the DFD settings yet. I did a little, and made the mistake of not writing down the default settings, which I am hoping to retrieve from another user (see my thread!!!)
I experienced some crashes and 1 bug while editing via the
gui as well. If you call up certain things in the group editor, you need to close down Kontakt, or else every button will call up the same window. Also had some freezes while loading large libraries. This will end up not bothering me so much if it does not happen while loading saved Receptor programs from the front panel. I can live with the occasional crash in edit mode.
DFD and other issues aside, this is a much deeper instrument than Kompakt, and is well worth it. I'm excited about converting a bunch of Kurzweil format things I have to .nki's as well.
I'll report more and hope others do as well, especially about DFD settings. I also need to figure out how to put K2 scripts in the right area without typing them in - but that's another thread.

How much RAM do you have installed? I've been using the PCP-80 pianos with 1.25 GB and haven't had any serious problems WITH THE DEFAULT SETTINGS (I'm loathe to fiddle with them too much as I have rehearsal in two hours–time to get the drum kits loaded onto the other Receptor :>).

What ARE the default settings?
I'm trying to find out so I can put 'em back.
