I think most people have a hard time relating to current musical trends once they get beyond a certain age. It makes sense to me actually, they are not part of the target demographic. Modern pop music is not made for someone like Hink for example. He's too hard to sell things to. But there was a time when it was. The time will also come for you that you will look at what's going on musically and find that you cant imagine why anyone would like this. You are very young now (and I dont mean that as a negative) so you're right there as part of the target audience so you can see the appeal of modern pop. It's made specifically to appeal to your demographic. Fortunately, you are a musician so you've developed some more esoteric tastes as well. Was it really so surprising to you that a bunch musicians hate pop? Musicians by and large are passionate about music and demand alot from it. It's very rare that pop can deliver lyricly or musically. Because of that I dont really think that your whole Beatles analogy applies as much here as it would with non-musicians. Whatever though man. Like what you want. What do I know anyway? I'm just some dude on a forum.

Don't get me wrong I hate 90% of pop music as well, but i just found it humorous when people said things like "Those damn kids with their hair and provocative dress! It's not even music!" that I couldnt help but hear being said through dentures :hihi:

That's indeed funny ("said through dentures" is exactly the right words for it :D ). Most of the times I listen to those sentences, funnily enough, they come from a german radio-show though that plays techno in various styles and other "independent" kind of music. Nice music, but they can't present 1 song without blablaing against other styles, like pop music. Sometimes they sound exactly like they'd be their own grandgrandparents , whereas they are modern radio DJs or work for mags like SPEX or De:bug :hihi:

When Im a grandparent Im going to groan about how the music of the day *isnt* like the beatles. :hihi:

Well... I'm not that young now but never I was a part of "pop" culture. I had a friends who were rockers at the time but the technomania came and you know what? They stopped beings rockers instantly! This was because techno was so "trendy" then... Buahaha, dumb sheeps getting everything only to be "trendy".

I'm still enjoing hard rock/heavy metal as in the past. Not because someone else does but because I really like these sounds and styles. And I'm giving *hit to the mass culture - I'm rarely watching TV for an example. Good books (or some of not mainstream computer games) are far more worth my time.
