I've been listening to my dad's PURE digital radio, and I'm so impressed by it. Amazing quality of sound, crystal reception, and a good range of radio stations.
Radio 6 is just superb for anyone who likes their music but can't be arsed with shite on radio 1 or wogan on 2
I think santa might have something new on my list...

Now here's a thing. Get an analogue radio, and sit a digital one next to it. Get the same bbc station - what do you notice? The digital braodcast is approx 2sec delayed from the analogue! Great for those time checks!

We get worldspace around here. Fantastic range of music to choose from. And the whole package is real cheap (reciever plus subscribtion). Demoed it a few days ago. sounded like 128KBps Mp3. Very dissapointed. But will do for the regular bloke. They all have it now.

we have music choice through our digital cable...we love it...btw I hate regular radio...but I might get a satellite radio this "silly season" too

and maybe they don't have to set those broadcast processors to 11 anymore. But they most likely will.

the sound coming out of my 16 bit 44.1 I think, maybe better......But admittly music choice or my cable company (I suspect the latter) use compressors, on smoe songs I can hear it breathing...there are a couple tweaks I can make and remove some compression in the audio menu on my cable box...still doesn't stop it all, but only on a few songs....for some reason "Dio-Last in Line" is one...

Upside: A Prog-rock station, and a station they call "Special X", which has some very odd Dr. Demento style stuff on it sometimes.
Downside: I lost the good metal station

My favourite thing about digital radio is when I listen to radio 5 live: no longer having to choose between listening to my central heating (693 AM) or fridge (909).
But sadly, the quality is not 'all that' to my ears -
AFAIK, all the BBC stations are 128kbps or less here in the UK (poor to medium MP3 quality) apart from radio 3. Not as good as an FM tuner with a good aerial...

dunno bout analog reception there, but FM here sounds soo much better than what digital has to offer. No ones complaining though, except me.
The real deal was trying to explain to their sales department why I dint opt for their system. They mustve thought im crazy, or a real cheap ass... hehe..

I have Sirius Satellite. I "demoed" the programming against XM before committing, and for me Sirius was best by far. I love it and I'll never listen to so-called free radio again. Sirius has some very good electronica stations, but I mostly listen to "Left of Center" and "Underground Garage". It's not digital quality, but it's just fine for the car. At work and at home I stream it via DSL. Honestly, the programming is very good, with real DJ's that have a love for the music they play. I'm guessing Sirius and XM are US only (for now). My instincts tell me both companies will transition to digital in the near future.
