the sound is great, but the GUI is anything but a pleasure! Do imageline have computers with a desktop resolution of 640x480?! I would use it a whole lot more if it wasn't so painfully fiddly to usesushishiva wrote:I love Sytrus, what a perfect job programming this. Also the GUI is a true pleasure to work with! Sytrus, best 59$ I've spent in a while!

Same here. Unfortunately, they are NOT planning to redesign the GUIJbravo wrote:I would use it a whole lot more if it wasn't so painfully fiddly to use
A better idea for them would be to start working now on a brand new subtractive synth similar in architecture to Albino 2 but with Sytrus's oscillators (I mean character here) and filters. Just imagine this great monster! No doubt, it'd kill any other subtractive synth on the market!

Anyone got to automate sytrus in Cubase SX 3? I tried the 'normal' way > recording and having the Write function enabled for the channel but nothing happens. Is there something i'm doing wrong?

I bet i'll join the chant as soon as received my license key
aka rktic. demoscener (Farbrausch, Holon, MFX, Still), sound designer, ux-dude, sth @AudioRealism, human synthesizer—not necessarily in that order.

Depends on what you are trying to automate. The matrix knobs are not automatable, which is a bit of a shame but a lot of the other knobs are (filter, ADSR on the main page, main volume, pitch etc).
Automation works fine here at least.

It is amazing how underestimated Sytrus is.
I just got to say it loud, THIS THING SOUNDS PHAT!!!!!!
Actually, imo, it is probably the best synth out there with such a pure sound and with so many possibilities.

The thing about Sytrus is that it can make great sounds (anything from a quick saw wave) to more comprehensive sounds without hitting the CPU too badly (some of the FL demo songs have lots of Sytrus plugins loaded).
It's when you start automating different parameters and filters via the envelopes that things start to slow down. Also, I think Unison and and Polyphony have an impact as well.

polyphony, unison & oversampling have a direct & drastic impact on its CPU usage, but automation should be quite light.

Ah, good to know. Now I can 'go wild' on the automation.
(Out of interest, is Unison, in a sense, a form of Polyphony-per-note? Don't know much about it, just curious about how it causes a bad CPU hit.)

What screen resolution do you run to use this thing though? I've tried it, GUI is so small made my eyes hurt after 2 minutes trying to tweak the thing, so I can't use it. Sounds good though.
No, that wasn't me.

exactly, at least, in normal mode. In 'osc' mode, it's a polyphony for oscillators, but not filters. And then the oversampling has a direct impact on the CPU usage. 4x oversampling = 4x CPU usage.

Oh wow!
I'm witnessing a miracle: I have 3 Sytrus in my new song with my 1.5G CPU. Maybe I'm still getting somewhere with this computer after all
I'm happy
