We have the material, it just need to be finished being worked on. We haven't touched it yet. I sure would like to have it myself! So, we'll work on it next month perhaps. I also have a few other ideas in mind...

and here I was only joking! I didn't actually think that there would be a Vol. 2Squids wrote:We have the material, it just need to be finished being worked on. We haven't touched it yet. Oh, I said there probably would be since I have a lot more material that I would like to be worked on myself! I have a lot of misc Chamberlin and Optigan stuff plus this really weird 8-Track drum machine called the Powerhouse that Mellotron distributed. The beats are super lofi but 70's funky because famous drummers and percussionists played on it like Luis Conti and Alex Acuna (I think anyway). So, a bit more on the loop side of things but also some rare sounds. I once went to someone name Sandy's house who worked for Chamberlin and I got some rare tapes that were never released. Stuff like that. As esoteric as it gets. Also, I used to own Tom Waits and Neil Finn's Chamberlins which had a lot of rare stuff. The ones they had that they actually bought from me were 1 of very few in existence that were like that. Tom's was the same model that Jon Brion used on Fiona Apple's records (and is pictured in her Shadow Boxer video btw). A Music Master 500.
Zac Rae who is now Alanis Morissette's keyboard player had a model 200 and I had one as well (only mine was an ugly skeleton version with not wood panels). He sampled both of ours to dat for me and I have that to go through as well. Patrick Warren let me use his Ampex 3 track that he bought off of Richard Chamberlin so I could dupe some tapes directly off of it to digital. That was cool. Too bad he doesn't have the machine anymore. We did this at Michael Penn's studio. I guess they didn't have the room anymore for it (although I would have taken it... it was a cool old tube machine! Art really.).
The only tronish thing I really don't have too many samples of (yet anyway) is a Talentmaker. I never had one. But, I do have most of the samples of the 360 Systems digital tron and also the RMI Keyboard Computer. I am a bit of a freak I guess.

I was checking out the Talentmaker samples on this page: http://www.optigan.com/cousins.htmlSquids wrote:

Do you plan to include more of the kitchy samples like "Movin' Badly" from more Optigan disks on Vol. 2? That would be great.

Man, Squids Tron Collection V1 is fantastic.
I also didn't know that there was going V2.
Geesh, I thought I was getting to the point of owning everything that I want to own. Here comes another thing I must have.
More Optigans are wanted - as are the other esoteric stuff that you've mentioned.
Don't worry if it's low fi.
I know that I will buy.

Yeah, this was so in demand that we had to let people still get it. Just email sales@esoundz.com and request a link (secret link). We do have a volume 2 in the works. It is pretty esoteric though! REALLY rare stuff. I even have some things recorded by Chamberlin that were never even released. I have some master tapes for that and some other stuff too. Pretty crazy but I was really into this at the right time I guess. It's a lot of fun because the sounds have such character. Plus, they really are important production tools for certain styles of music. I have been getting into the latest Fiona Apple record. I know Brian Kehew and Jon Brion (those guys used to be roomates). In fact, I learned a lot about this stuff from Brian (the Orchestron samples are of his because I traded him a clavinet for it way back when).Zoing wrote:I remember that first collection was a one off, one time only deal... so my question is, can you still get it it???
Actually, I have a REALLY cool surprise if you are fans of wacky rare keyboards (wacky rare keyboards vol. 1?

Squids,
Give us a month's head's up if you will so we can bank the extra cash. I'm still in love with Vol 1. I'm not sure how I could pass on Vol 2.
Thanks

sounds cool... E is the dude from eels right?? He played a concert in NZ which I saw, with the string quartet. It was fantatsic. Rocking out on a Celeste (I think)... Lotsa Tronny sounds on Blinking lights... if its some other E, excuse my digression... So the new Fiona Apple good??

Yes, E from the Eels. I was almost in that band actually. Long story.Zoing wrote:sounds cool... E is the dude from eels right?? He played a concert in NZ which I saw, with the string quartet. The Fiona Apple record is really good. For some reason I was a little skeptical. I don't know why because I really like her. But, I was worried it was going to be sort of... hard to describe. Maybe dense and inaccessible? Or not melodic enough perhaps. I don't know. But, there are some good songs on it plus the sounds and production are really great. The drums sound amazing. The vibes and keyboard sounds are more like the first album which is cool. I bought it when I was out in LA this past week and listened to it over and over in the car. It grows on you. She's great. I probably could have played keys with her if I was still hanging around. I know a lot of the people she's worked with (Jon, Patrick, Brian), and that's how those things happen (one passes on to the other). Oh well. I would have liked that gig... musically speaking.

Wasn't the Baldwin used on "Because" by the Beatles also? I've got a friend who has one of those up in his attic of pre-MIDI keyboards.Squids wrote:Yeah, this was so in demand that we had to let people still get it. ). I have some really obscure samples of things like the Baldwin Electric Harpsichord (used on Aerosmith's Dream On), Hohner Cymbalet (that I learned of from E who borrowed one from Jon Brion... it is like a pianet but it plucks the tines like a harpsichord) and a Novachord which is a TUBE synth!
Plus a Clavioline (that I also borrowed from Brian) which is also tube... sound interesting?
