Q: energyXT sequencer Live mode with LiveSlice

as you might have read in the forum, i'm a new eXT-owner since today

this might be a newb-question, but i couldn't find anything on this in the manual. is there a way to make the clock run more than 1 beat in the live mode?

the problem is that i added LiveSlice to a midi-track and tried to set the sequencer to the livemode, but then LS only plays one beat and then starts from the beginning instead of playing the whole arrangement.
the only solution i found so far is to "out-source " LS to the main-window and use a midi-out, but i think there has to be an easier solution.

DarkStar and ohm, since you are dedicated eXT-users, i believe you have a better solution for sure.

have you turned off the loop mode (button to far right of transport buttons?

if on, it will loop on the selected bars at the top of the timeline (which i believe defaults to the 1st bar).

whoops. i just re-read and realized you said in Live Mode.

i know far less about Live mode than the rest of eXT, but i see that loop mode did not help.

however, i noticed a "Beats" field right under the Loop Button (at the top of the Live Mode screen) that is set to 1 by default. when i increased this, LiveSlice moved on past the 1 beat.

now i guess i have to figure out Live mode, too.

i only have the beats-box on the right to the master clock in live mode, which isn't under the loop button. since i bought eXT today, i only have the 1.3.6 full version, can it be that you use the latest beta?

anyway i already set the beats to a higher value, but LS still plays only the first beat of the triggered arrangement (ups, forgot to say that i trigger the arrangements with midi-parts).

hmmm, you're right about it not advancing when triggered from midi-parts.

i was trying it on-the fly from the midi controller and that seemed to work, but i now realize that as soon as the transport starts running, you get the problem you describe.

btw: that's the same beats box that i meant. i use 1.3.6 also. i guess i didn't explain where it was very well. sorry about that.

- your loop plays as it should, in Single Mode,
- but not in Live mode,
- I tried a brand new song and got trhe same issue,
- I also (whisper this quietly so ohm doesn't hear) tried it with DK+ instead of LiveSlice and got the same issue.

So it sounds like one for the energyXT forum.
Sorry, not much help but I'll keep looking.

BTW, you have probably worked out that eXT's Live mode is for live triggering of arrangements, so you may not need it just yet

yep, that's what makes it interesting to me - would be ace to have LS in livemode, that would kick ass on stage.

I managed to get it working using the manual sync mode in liveslice, so now it runs ok, even in energy xt's livemode.
Tbh. I never figured out how to use livemode, and figured I'd let it evolve a bit before messing with it - now I realize it's really a great feature as it is.

Note that what you found is still a bug in energy XT and should be reported. In live-mode the song position is looping within the first beat - probably because the default duration of the master timer is 1 beat, and is not updated properly. (guess)

sorry, I wasn't being perfectly clear: I made some modifications to make it work - I'll send out a beta soon so you can try it - doesn't work in 1.22

hm, been afraid of the live mode. so afraid that i haven't even found it... but considering that i hardly ever sequence offline, maybe i should get into it sometime.

you definately should start using live mode - it's excellent - there's a good description of how to work it in the commands guide.
