Any reccomendations for some thrash?

Just make sure it's a band I can find on the net and possibly buy please.

Yes I know the term "thrash" is broad to some people. Whatever your top pics are.

Exodus - Bonded by Blood
Voivod - Killing Technology
Metallica - first 3 CD's
Megadeth - Peace sells..
Megadeth - the CD with Holy Wars

Above are essential,also check out..

Celtic Frost - Into Mega Therion (More avant garde)
S.O.D - Speak English or Die (Hard core meets thrash)
Death Angel - The Ultra Violence (Technical thrash metal)

There are many more, this is just a starting block.
my youth really, this and the death and black metal scene of the '80s and early '90s.

Enjoy,

I found the answer, only to realise I had forgotten the question ..

I just saw the German "godfathers" of Thrash, DESTRUCTION, and I can easily say that this is among the best shows of this kind of music I've seen. Good songs played well and with a minimum (albeit non-zero) amount of gimmicks and gadgets.

Destruction gets my vote. They were among the first, and they still kick ass.

slayer's reign in blood was always the one for me

it's not all good but the good stuff is great and it's all got more energy than it can possibly contain
I believe every thread should devolve into character attacks and witch-burning. It really helps the discussion.

Sodom and Dark Angel are great places to start.

Back in 2002 or so, there was also a huge surge of retro-thrash, so check out bands like Grimfist, Dew Scented, Terror 2000, The Crown, The Haunted, Witchery and the last Susperia album.

All of those were good, I would emphasize early ------destruction : Release From Agony,, 1987
-Cryptic Slaughter: COndemened, ALthough more hardcore/punk/thrash
of course SLayer;Reign in Blood

-Kreator
-Celtic Frost (early shit dont buy "Cold LAke" EVER)
-Sadus had some great shit.
-ATHEIST (thrash kings)All three of their albums have now been re-releasesd , so they should be easy to find again.

For a little heavier music, that Thrash will ul;timately lead too,,

Morbid Angel;Blessed Are The Sick
Morbid Angel;Covenant
Morbid Angel; Altars of Madness
Suffocation; Effigy of the Forgotten
Flesh Parade'Kill WHitey
Deicide; Legion (Definitly thrash riffing)
Napalm Death (Scum thru Utopia Banished, and their new one "the code is red long live the code" Reminds me of some ole thrash, although of course vocals are not but his vocasl are definetly more accessible.

One album that even 14 years later still sounds solid and has brilliant musiciansip is Dark Angel - Time does not Heal. What an album. (some previews and a review here http://www.metal-observer.com/articles. ... =1&id=8081 )

Others i'd recommend are Forbidden - Twisted into Form, Pestilence - Testimony of the Ancients ( http://www.metal-observer.com/articles. ... =1&id=3772 - more "death" metal though, but give it a try if you can) and Vio-Lence - Eternal nightmare (more here - http://www.metal-observer.com/articles. ... =1&id=6870 )

There are so many goodies out there from the late 80's/early 90's.

I was about post the exact same comment :D

The one song that epitomises thrash for me is 'Toxic Waltz' by Exodus 8) 8) 8)

"Everybody's doin' the toxic waltz
Kick your friend in the head and have a ball"

In addition to those already mentioned I'd add Sepultura's "Beneath the remains" and "Arise"

btw, the only time ever that I've thought it was too loud was during a The Haunted concert...very good otherwise though
