New Marquis Compressor feature awaits your opinion

I've just posted Marquis Compressor beta v1.0.7:
http://www.voxengo.com/downloads/?highl ... arquiscomp
I've reimplemented one very imprortant processing block which significantly changes compressor's sound and 'Round' detector precision. To the better, of course.
If you are sure previous versions sounded better (smoother, pleasantly, etc), please post your comments here.
I may especially interested in comparison of this version in some actual mixing project which uses several Marquis instances.

Hi Aleksey,
the new one sounds softer and sounds therefore more pleasant. I would like to have both.
Best wishes, FRitz

Hi aleksey,
this new version sounds like sh...AWESOME!
I tried it on all of my regular scenarios and sounds, and I can't justify having the old version around anymore. Everything has more resolution now, even distortion sounds better. The improvement is most audible on the high freq region, as attack is shaper and general processing is more solid. The sharpness is kind of an illusion since it's probably there thanks to the better resolution (or what ever you did). In fact it sounds similar to the old version, but processing on higher samplerates.
Great job!
and thanks!

This version should also have a kind of post-sounding 'oomph' (due to a mighty phase shifting - BTW, this one usually presents in 'high end' EQ impulses). Higher frequencies should sound almost untouched, however. In average this version is indeed 'sharper' than the previous one because of more precision on almost all levels.

Now that you point it out, yes, there is some low frequency contouring going on. sounds good.Aleksey Vaneev wrote:This version should also have a kind of post-sounding 'oomph'.
One thing I noticed is that the presets don't match 100% to the old version. It's not just the better resolution, the overall attack/release shape changes a bit (quite subtly).
generally it's very forgivable and can be compensated very easily, but on T3 some smashed settings sound somewhat different.
Nothing to worry about since presets are only suggestions for the user in the first place.

well it's subtle, apart from the resolution increase. I doubt it's anything to worry about. It certainly didn't change anything for the worse here.

Argh - sorry - I can't seem to really get along with Marquis at the moment. I always end up back with my Sonalksis. But I will experiment more and give it time. I'm sure its just getting used to it - after all I like Crunchessor a lot.

just finished a mix with this new version. I can still stand by everything I said earlier. major sound improvement, and nothing to worry about with the preset compatibility (it seems to change everything for the better).
where's the two thumbs up icon now that I need it?

seems fine to me, I don't really hear a huge difference which is a good thing since I loved how the compressor sounded before too !
I tested with a project I had used it. 4 instances, vocals & bass and the 2 renders sounded really similar to me. The compressors were all on Round mode and were working very hard too, ratio was over 10 on most instances if I remember correctly.
Is the change in sound supposed to be obvious or subtle ?
Cheers

P.S.: I still can't get over how good this compressor is !!!! WOWEE !!
