yesterday i got a brandnew ZOOM G2!
no more latency....no more hassle with harshness....extreme
good sounding....

why one`s needing 11000 ampmodels!???
10 good ones are better imo!
yeah and this thing functions with batteries too.
i can play in bed or on the toilet or somewhere
outerspace..!!!

Post

and......it`s cheap (about 90 Euros) you can buy
3 units for one guitarrig or amplitube...
and probably the best springreverb emulation i ever
heard ..pretty authentic feeling an the dynamic
behavior is amazing toooooooooooooooo!!!!!

wouldn't the guitar neck go thru the toilet wall? :?

back on topic - since I got my Digitech RP50 I have pretty much stopped using ampsim VSTs, so I agree with you :D

Post

I try all the amp.sims and there are some very good ones, but I never use them. I have my guitar sound made before I put it into the pc (I only apply delay, reverb and a small adjustement afterwards). But I always played guitar and I´ve got plenty of fx processors, amps, speakers, etc. So it more because of my habits... .. .

Sunny greetings, Max.

check also the zoom G2 reviews @ "harmony central"
it gives a little impression how it`s related to
other soundmodelers like pod XT or V-amp2....
i owned a pod 2 and V-amp2 and i must say...
the G 2 goes miles ahead....good wah also...for example
.....
BTW for the small money you can buy a chainsaw too for
the ultimate hellguitarinfernoshatterdistortion and
for the hole in the toiletwall.

kind regards premiumcrap

I picked up a Korg AX3000G and feel pretty much the same way.

It looks good, indeed, but fairly limited. If it had a software patch editor, I'd be tempted. Then again, now that I've looked at the very reviews you recommended peeking at, I see a LOT of people claiming that the amp sim section isn't quite the shizznit.

Might stick with my original UX2 idea after all. ;) HOWEVER-- it looks capable enough that if I see it used, I might get it at some point in time anyhow, to supplement my setup.

i had a Zoom gfx707 a couple of years ago and it was awful; tinny sound, loads of artifacts/clicks/glitches in the sound etc.

Have they got things right since then? Is this new generation really a step up?

Post

Well, let us hear how it sounds. Post some clips and forgive my skepticism...

Post

it`s really a new generation of zoom effects...i had 505 2 before and throw it away
for the reasons Gary G mentioned.after that, i bougth the pod 2 was not satisfied (too
plastic sounding in my ears) then i switched to V-amp 2 (Better but you have to be carefull wich ampsim you combinate with wich cabinet.otherwise it can sometimes sound
horrible."Harsh and Grainy" made a few recordings yesterday with the new ZOOM and plugged "tubelimit (TLS/TBT)" into the channel-..for me: absolutely smooth sound..
also with heavy overdrives...in the reviews at harmony central some people claim that
its thin sounding i know ..but i don`t have this experience..i suspect them to have
not switched on the cabinet simulation ,because the unit has 2 modes 1 is for
playing with an normal git amp , in this mode it`s shurely thin sounding ..thats
pretty normal...and BTW forget the presets(HORRIBLE)
i have no personal website...can i upload any mp3 s here on KVR ? but not today!!

I still love my ZOOM 503's - got 2 of 'em. IMHO Zoom peaked in sound quality with the 503. As they added more features with later models the sonic quality suffered. 606 - eh - got one, makes a decent volume control. Hopefully they are on an upward track again. :D I would have no qualms about my sound being professional in a studio or live with the 503. It does beautiful Clapton sounds - perfect emulation of his tone. I have sat and played along with his later albums and at times had to change my presets so that I could tell if a note was mine or his. I am not kidding you. My rig: Mexican made Strat - Marshall overdrive - Zoom 503 - line inputs of my late 70's pioneer stereo amp.

Digitech 100 - I tried one of my neighbor's - A-B'd it with the 503. Digitech was a complete waste of the guy's money. Oooops, what's that huge sucking sound.....? :hihi:

I have a VOX Valvetronix...

Image

And I have a Pod II on the way also.

The VOX alone covers my needs, and it does sound gorgeous, very good simulations.

I bought Amplitube 1 because of the Sampletank deal that Esoundz had on it, and I also had 50 dollars of Epointz, so I only ended up paying something like £110 for Amplitube 1+2 and Sampletank2L.

Amplitube 1 sounds good on drums and it's good for experimenting with, but I use my VOX for guitar work. Amplitube 2 is very interesting to me, but I'll probably still prefer to use the VOX.

When I got my 'bedroom' combo amp, the Marshall MG30 was said to be fairly good, so that's what I ended up with. A case of "try it before you buy it" because I dont' like it much. I'd gladly offload it for $150 CDN (cost twice that and has been used 5 times) and get the Vox in its place.
