big chunk of a harddrive ? Get with the 21st century, libraries are shipping with 50 gigs and disk drives are 400+ gig these days.
This is for a specific type of music. I suppose if you go out and guy an orchestral library you make soundtrack or classical.

Ok maybe I didn't give the marketing idea I proposed a full thinking throughCyprus wrote:I think offering it in different chunks would have almost no appeal for anybody. In a set like this people want variety, and if seventy dollars is too expensive for something that you would love than you're in the wrong business. I can appreciate the struggles of being broke as well as anybody, but in this industry you won't find much under a hundred bucks.
However as for variety, that's what I feel this lacking, since most of what I've heard so far has been ambient pads/soundscapes. There's some very nice guitar stuff, but this library has a very narrow focus. Not that that is bad (its great), but its just not personally what I am in the market for. I can make similar (probably not as good) stuff myself and that is totally free with the tools I have already. I think if I do buy a sound library, it will be in the form of the $99 upgrade to Dimension Pro. Its got some sounds like this and a whole variety of other sounds including Garritan "pocket" orchestra which I could also use.
Also, I'm not pro, nor am I trying to be so I'm not really "in the business" and therefor not in the wrong business. This is a hobby and I like to create as much as possible of it from scratch. I try to stay away from premade loops, presets, and synthy sound libraries somewhat.
I'm on a laptop with an 80gb hard drive. I have two instances of xp installed: one for everyday use and Flash, graphics, web design that I do, and the other is for audio. I use this computer for a lot of stuff and consequently the hard drive is pretty full. The size isn't really an issue; if I really wanted the library, I'd make it work, but for something that I'd just be using once in a while, it would somewhat be dead weight on my HD.big chunk of a harddrive ? I probably just shouldn't have mentioned that I don't think I'm going to purchase spacehawk. I kinda felt that I should explain to sonicfire why since I had appeared quite interested in buying from my earlier posts. I guess I was also just reasoning my decision out loud

@sgx: no problem, i fully understand that spacehawk is just not for everyone!
it´s a specific thing and covers only ambiental sounds. i just dont have the equipment to make a full-blown library with drums, more guitars, orchester instruments and choirs and stuff. (i wish i could!
).
so, no problem! thanks for clearing it up!
@dorian gray: thanks in advance!

Even if you don't have stuff to do a complete library, a bit of variation would certainly do good. Get some basses and comping sounds coming along with it. Your sound sources should be capable of that.

Comping sounds: sounds with a "piano-ish" amp EG, so you can use them for quicker stuff as well.
Edit: Btw, one of the reasons why I'm often only using the looped portion of a sample: I can use them for all sorts of things. I'll simply build the amp EG myself in the sampler.

well, there are 44 one-shot instruments in spacehawk and you can easily use any sound as a kind of lead by simply setting attack to zero or somewhat to 1-5 ms

No offense meant to anyone guys, but I have loads of Bass synths / Piano ish sounds... I think I'll use spacehawk for drones...
... saying that, a Pyrodon take on the standard sounds would be interesting too...
