chase - SFZ is a neat little format that is now in it's 2nd generation and Cakewalk/Rene are finalizing it right now.
Dimension Pro uses a subset of the SFZ v2 format as they haven't finalized it quite yet, but it gives users an insight on what the 2nd generation will be able to do to samples over v1.
As "McLilith" said above, the SFZ (not to be confused with SoundFont SF2)...is just a collection of WAV files + a text file that basically - thru scripting - tells the instrument how to play and manipulate the (multi) samples. It's very clever how Rene invented it and allows more possibilities beyond what current samplers can do. You can head over to Rene's Forum here at KVR (rgc:audio - and Cakewalk forum) to learn more about the SFZ format.
An oh...if having the WAV multi-samples already....all that needs to be done is to create the SFZ text file that references those WAV files, so you're practically there already - if you have the WAV files.
