Anyway the filter is 112k or so without the graphic. Am I the only who thinks that 13 megs just for graphics is too much? I don't care much about gui and pretty knobs. That's not what makes the sound.
Here's what's actually going on here para:

To you it's like I'm giving away free product (which I am) but to me, it's about getting free testing from the KVR community, as well as demonstrating that there's an interest in the stuff I'm developing. (I'd like to do this for a living someday...maybe even soon!) It's a symbiotic relationship to be sure.

But that also means that sometimes what I make isn't exactly what it would be if I was expecting people to pay for it (this isn't about you, it's about me ;) ) For example, the only reason the GUI is that big is because, as my first attempt at a GUI, I wanted to test the practicality of a big GUI and see if the code in the SDK was up to the task (I'd say I got positive results for both questions.)

But hang in there. I DO AGREE it's a bit big for what it is, and will look at getting the size down for the next version. Still, I think you might be confusing RAM with processing power. Why not just try it and let me know how bad it impacted your ability to hold sample data in your project? (Aren't all samplers DFD now anyway? :) )

Hey I'm totally with you here Admiral. I'm just saying to you what I think and I'm not confusing RAM with CPU power. For me the effects usually have to be track optimised or else they are only good for sound design.

Let me give you my system specs here. I have a p3 1.2 ghz with 384 megs of ram only and on winXP.

anyway I'll give it a whirl.

works in Live 5 and sounds good imho.
the colour changing of the knobs looks strange though - realistically only the colours within the "depression" should change

Post

It sounds good man! A bit of cpu hog though.

Post

yes,you can use eXT ok,even save songs, but you can't load songs 'till it's registered.
i don't care about cpu,if it sounds good you can sample it.good luck with the synth. :)

Heheh... has nobody on this board ever seen brushed metal? Anyway, lumpy black knobs in the next (major) version! Promise! ;)

Hey, this filter is fantastic and the GUI is the best work I´ve seen in a long time :o !!

Many Thanks. We always need plugins with personality.

Greetings,

Post

not sure if i posted in this thread yet...lol, can't remember, but what i do remember is that i tried out the latest beta of this filter and it is absolutely gorgeous!!! Not sure how ya did it, but it's very nice. Definitely one of the better software filters out there. The GUI is stunning as well. Can't wait to see a version 1.0 release.

peace! 8)

Same for me in Live 5.0.2 :?

3*s and Spiggy, what type of CPUs do you use?

It really shouldn't denormal in some hosts, but not in others. Possibly you're experiencing another bug where it runs in 6 channel mode even though you've only got it on a stereo or mono track, and then uses so much processing power only relatively fast machines can handle it. Sounds a lot like a denormal when this happens.

Though, I was experiencing denormal problems in the development... so it may very well be a denormal after all. Still, I haven't seen any heppening myself this version and it's the same DLL, same code path, regardless of what host you plug it in to... so I'd expect it's more to do with hardware platform than host. (I'm on a P4)

I don't have Sonar or Live (is that Ableton Live?) but will look into getting demos installed that will hopefully let me replicate this.

Next version (coming any day now) I'm going to include a switch to disable 6 channel mode and clamp it to 2.

Thanks very much for these bug reports folks! Keep em coming.

P4 2.6C...loads up in Ableton, looks good, then plummets as soon as I pass audio thru...

That sounds likely. I'll try the DigitalFishPhones Denormal in front of it anyway to see if that elimates that theory for you.

Cheers for the 2 channel mode - and again cheers for the plug. Looking forward to the synth!

It works well on Fl Studio 5 and sounds great .Very nice GUI too. Thanks a lot :D

Wow, thanks again everybody for the words of encouragement! I guess I'll keep at this stuff. ;)

I tested it tonight in the demo versions of EnergyXT and Ableton Live (have to say, from what little time I spent fiddling, I was quite impressed with both apps though EnergyXT was really the surprise of the two. Nice! Going to have to spend a bit of time with that one.)

It actually worked in both apps fine, though in energyXT I can see clearly that it's in 6 channel mode (nice!) and suspect the same is happening in Ableton. The next version will let you clamp it to stereo or mono if you want so those problems will be licked, but you can still crank it up to 6 if you want.

OK, expect a new version in a couple of days (I've got quite a list of things to add at this point) but for now I'm gonna go play with eXT some more... wheee... ;)
