I love physical modelling, especially when it comes in to own in a model like this - the brass section is lush! but I have a couple of functional issues and I'm wondering if I'm alone:

The pitch bend distance seems to represent half of the actual distance bent, eg a setting of 2 (assuming 2 semitones) actually bends, what sounds like, 1 semitone.

And the FX button, when mix is set to 0, when on sounds like it switches the left and right channels. eg. a non-affected sound appears more in the left speaker than the right, when FX is switched on with 0 wet mix, the sounds appears to come from the right. Is this a feature or working as designed?

Other than that, it's a wonderfully organic toy - let's hope some other developer folks start using the conical bore exciters and brass resonators.

Physically modelled brass rocks.

thanks CinningBao,

the Pan is like that, to force you to set a stereo image, <grin>

the pitch bend is wrong as you noticed, I'll fix that
in the soon next update,

Is it for sale yet? Can't find a link at liqihsynth...

Thanks, M'Snah, very temptinng, I'd better start saving up.

Is there no price break for DK+ users?

while you're at it could you please change the maximal pitch range to +/- two instead of one octave? (That way the synth would be much more usable for excessive ribbon users like me)

ok

cool, thanks!

cool. I prefer +/- 2 as well :)

another small thing: It would be nice if one could apply the same midi CC to different knobs (e.g. controlling both the velocity of the lips and the noise section with channel volume (CC 7) would be handy. Of course one can clone that CC to another unused one an thus circumvent the problem but it would be more staightforward otherwise)

another strange thing (doesn't neccessarily have to be a bug, perhaps I simply don't understand the concept):
If I select e.g. the "Basic Horn" template (or anything else that mostly relies on the lips/horn duo without much aid from the noise/pick/strings departments), change the pitch bend range to +/- 12 semitones and play some notes on the ribbon it only produces a sound if I touch one specific place on the ribbon (in the middle). First I thought that could have to do with natural notes ("Naturtöne" in german, sorry haven't found a correct translation) and resonance facilities of a valveless horn with lips that don't match the right resonance frequency but when I used my midi keyboard as a test it played the other notes fine (the keyboard encodes the pitch in the note on events while the ribbon always sends a fixed pitch value in the note on event and an additional pitch bend event for the actual pitch derivation from that base note. Somehow Modelonia doesn't like that kind of input...)

P.S.: an additional observation: if I turn the pitch bend wheel on the keyboard then the sound of the horn stops immediately. It doesn't seem to like the pitch bend wheel at all...

you are right, Modelonia doesn't like that, <grin>
actually the Horn is not optimized for glissando yet,
the best you can get so far is mapping a CC to Fine tuning in the Horn section,

ugh, that means some work (I have to floor the pitch bend value to the next semitone, send a CC value that changes the "semi" knob to the right value and then apply the rest to another CC that changes the position of the fine knob.) Should somehow be possible but a working pitch support would make things easier :hihi:
Otherwise really a nice synth! (The string/horn mixing facility sounds interesting especially for my ribbon/breath controller combo as continuous notes are more a feature of string instruments and breath control more one of wind ones, have to further experiment with that (i really like that cool sketch of Loriot (a german comedian) about the implications of theoretically blowing into a violin :) )

Hello,

please try this and let me know,
