SX Experts : Device Panels and VSTi's is that possible ?

Hi folks,
I must say i never delved into the device panels thing as i have no HW to control

BUT, i'm using a hell of a lot EnergyXT (wonderful proggie) which deals with automations ONLY via CC (almost).
Thus i was thinking of building some generic small device panels which i could map the things i wanna tweak to. This would make my life much easier, but I haven't been able to find a way to use the device panels for a VSTi.
Since it's not what the function is meant for in the first place, i'd rather ask than waste some time in something that won't work anyway (panels building etc seem pretty time-consuming).

So, does anyone know if there is a way to build and use device panels with VSTi's?

So far i've been able to load a pre-made panel (even make one, but i'm not sure it's functional so...) but whenever i load it in the midi track, it pops up' but i have no output midi channel available for it (not even my HW ones).
That's pretty much the step i'm getting stuck at and the manual is pretty thin on the setup itself (as opposed to panel building).
I hope someone can tell me if this is doable, or if i'm waisting my time.

When you use something like hubi's midi loopback driver you can use device panels for VSTis.
You create the midi device and panel, and route it to a hubi output. Make a midi track, set intput to your normal midi input (keyboard or whatever), output to your newly created midi device. Make a second midi track, set it's input to the hubi loopback device, and it's output to whatever synth/subhost you want to control. Then set both tracks to record enabled to get a live throughput of midi data.
