...if everyone listed their style preferences in their sig? That way, when you see 3000 people saying "this new 303 emulation is wicked shit", you'll notice that they all have "tarnce" in their list, and you'll find something else to occupy your time...

:hihi:

Seriously, though, it WOULD be intersting on opinion threads if people said what styles they were into - would make a difference if, for example, I was really into acoustic music, and everyone digging on a particular effect was into electronic...

...and I KNOW I SHOULD TRY THE DEMO!!!!

That would be nice, yes. Except for those of us who don't stick to a single style and go all over the place all the time. :D

Yes, I thought of that - people with diverse interests can just type "I'm never going to get anywhere" or something like that...

Don't mock diversity....there's plenty of single minded people who aren't going anywhere either. :hihi:

He's got a point, though. For instance on the thread about what effects could be put on bass: The threadstarter meant bass quitar, but I make DnB which is a genre full of completely mangled synth bass.

No, he's not got a point :P Ever heard of squarepusher? Ever heard Music Is Rotted One Note? Not exactly his normal type of stuff. Ever heard of Michel banabila? Radiohead? Aphex twin? The list carries on forever concerning people who don't just stick to one musical "genre".

my styles are only one click away in my sig
The highest form of knowledge is empathy, for it requires us to suspend our egos and live in another's world. It requires profound, purpose‐larger‐than‐the‐self kind of understanding.

Yes but there is one exact genre, and then there is a ball feild. Squarepusher wouldnt throw down his percussive techniques to a country producer

Could that be because he self produces though?
