With the help of this foroum I've been looking a lot at reverbs since I got Sonar 4 in June and then Producer 5 recently. I like the Sonitus and Perfect Space but would like to do better but since I don’t have the money I realized I would just have to stick with what I have. But I wanted to see how Sonar verbs faired with some other quality verbs so….I downloaded 2 mp3 demo clicks of 2 quality verbs.

I took the dry male vocal demo from the Wizoo Stereo and the dry female vocal demo from the UAD-1 DreamVerb (which I always thought was very nice and lush). I also took the best wet from each also so I could compare.

I imported all 4 mp3 demo clips into Sonar 5. I then took the Wizoo and Dreamverb dry clips and applied the Sonitus and Perfect Space to them and did some tweaking.

Though I thought the Dreamverb was a bit “lusher” (but not much) both Sonitus and P Space held up surprisingly well. I actually felt the Sonitus came closer than the Perfect Space and really sounded nice. I’m learning to tweak the Sonitus fairly well but not the Perfect Space so I may not have gotten the most out of the Perfect Space.

But at any rate I feel much better with my Sonar verbs and considering what it would cost to get Wizoo or Dreamverb and others I feel even better!

If the sonitus verb (& compressor) could be downloaded seperately over here in the u.k. (rather than only being available as part of a £199 bundle) I would likely grab it myself - decent sound & very minimal cpu footprint, very weel coded it would appear.

You can buy it seperately from Cakewalk. I just grabbed it a few weeks back. Excellent reverb :)

Last time I looked if your U.K. (& I believe E.U.) based you have to buy it from their U.K. distibutor (edirol) & they only sell the whole bundle for £199.
I will definately check again though to see if they've changed that policy (fingers crossed).

Bloody hell - thanks for the heads up mate - they can now be purchased separately from the cakewalk online store.
Nice one - wahey :)

£35 for the reverb & £25 for the compressor (which is a maybe for me) - cool.

[edit] hmmmm... it states
plug-in for DirectX compatible hosts
, yet in the blurb for the full package it states
These plug-ins have been enhanced with DirectX automation, and can be use with SONAR, Home Studio, Project5 or any application supporting DirectX or VST
pleeeease someone tell me that if you purchase the downloadable single effects there are vst versions - not just directx? [/edit]

If you can get the verb for that then you might consider grabbing it. The more I use it the better it sounds. I was really pleased when I was able to get it even closer to the Dreamverb with some more minor tweaking - almost can't tell the difference.

Also - the Multiband is quite powerful - to me anyway.

I've tried the demo of artsacoustic - & it is excellent.
I'm a cheapskate though - & I thought the sonitus sounded nice also & very cheap as well as cpu friendly.
A combination of that, rv7000, lives reverb & psp springverb (freebie) or maybe buy the full easyverb & i'm pretty much covered I reckon (plus the tc native I may be getting as a real cheapie).
Damn looks like my reverb count is climbing again - & here's me trying to cut down on fx to the bare minimum!!!
