Or just poetic. Or mysterious. Or something.
This week I've been mostly digging The Other People Place.
Others:
Venetian Snares
Charalambides (their music is as beautiful as their name, by the way)
Woven Hand
And so on. But The Other People Place is just beautiful. The music is nice, too, if you like Drexciyan stuff.
Groet, Erik

Lots of people do. "Fripper" is a tough one to make sense of unless you are a guitar player, in which case you've probably heard of Robert Fripp.Chase wrote:call me silly, but until recently i always saw your nick as "Flippertronix"
Brian Eno introduced him to the technique in the '70's...
"RG: Could you simply explain the process of Frippertronics?
RF: Yes. I record on the left machine, the guitar is recorded on the left
machine, the signal passes along the tape to the right machine where it's
played back to the left machine and recorded a second time.
RG: OK.
RF: The signal recorded the second time passes along the tape to the right
machine where it's played back a second time and recorded a third.
RG: And at what point is it released into the room?"
edit: Here I wanted to insert my alternative question to the one above:
DP: And at what point do you pause to take another drag on the hash pipe?
"RF: Oh, straightaway. Unless, what I could do if I wanted to be crafty,
would be to build up a chord which no one could hear and then turn the
chord on, but, in fact, that doesn't happen. I've only done that, I think,
on a couple of occasions. You hear it happening."
I actually don't much care for the sound of Frippertronics
I do really like some of Fripp's other projects, though, like the King Crimson albums Discipline (which uses some tape loop stuff), and the deeply prog rock Larks' Tongues in Aspic.
