We are pleased to inform you about release of a new version of our universal compressor PC VST plug-in. In Marquis Compressor you may find a very smooth compression performance coupled with a very harmonic-rich sound, both suitable for mixing and mastering.

This version implements a variety of important enhancements, improvements and issue fixes, and is carrying more factory presets.

Among the most important enhancements is the introduction of the 'compression behavior' switch: now Marquis can deliver attack/release behavior of some well-known analog compressor from the past. Beside that you can also disable intentional harmonic coloration applied by the compressor.

Level detector algorithm can now be switched from the default 'Round' mode to a more widely-used 'Classic' mode, which is less precise, but which can be used to get that 'edgy' compression sound.

On top of these improvements we have improved the overall sound of the compressor. Now Marquis sounds smoother and has more dimension to its sound.

Voxengo Marquis Compressor features:

* Variable knee design
* Harmonically enhanced sound
* Three compression behaviors
* Feed-forward and feedback (opto) modes
* Different coloration types
* Release contour controls
* Key signal filtering
* 4-level meters
* "A-to-B" comparisons
* Factory presets
* Mono-to-Stereo, Stereo-to-Stereo processing
* All sample rates supported
* 64-bit internal precision
* Native assembler DSP code

Marquis Compressor is currently available for purchase on-line for USD 89.95. You may find more information and access downloads at our website: http://www.voxengo.com

Does this version report the latency to the host?
I'm sorry this post wasn't about techno.

Im having problems with the new version in fruity loops.

If Im in the T2 or T3 modes and then hide the window the sound completly changes. In fact the dry knob doesn't seem to fuction correctly or threshold, probably all the same bug.

Btw by hinding the window I mean right clicking on the plugins name on the mixer.

Funkybot, yes, it does report latency.

Johnny, does that mean that previous version worked fine?

Yes I only had 1.0 never installed any of the beta's. Ill test it out again later and check it in Live 5.

Actually, I've just tried Marquis in FL Studio5 demo. And it worked VERY strangely.. GFX updating is interrupted, sound is interrupted. I'll try to fix that - possibly that should also help with the problem you've experienced.

Weird, it's working flawlessly here on FL Studio 5.0.1

Here you can download some presets for Marquis. These are all what I call "universal mastering" presets. Just load one of the presets and tweak threshold and the dry/wet knob to your liking. For the most modern 'punch' sound the T2 presets provide the best starting point.

I've also included a preset that I made yesterday while demoing that superb 303 bassline clone, phoscyon. Simply insert a Marquis after the bassline, load the preset, tweak the threshold and you're done. Seems to work best when the tempo is around 140bpm.

Have fun!

Indeed, it's working fine in FL Studio 5.0.1 (I was just using 'emulated' audio device which did not work). Also VST-DX wrapped plug-ins do not work.

Johnny, I may also suggest you to perform full 'Refresh' (scan&verify) inside FLStudio. Probably that way FLS can 'catch' the changes happened between v1.0 and v1.1.

Just a little comment: this thing is so remarcably tweakable... I spent an hour tweaking the same drum track, just enjoying the creative possibilities I've never found anywhere before. Maaan! It can be whatever you want it to be :D Veeery nice compressor Aleksey. Now I must find a donor for it... :D I'm hooked.

Cheers!
