Fennesz, pretty much everything else on Mego, Vladislav Delay, pretty much everything else on Mille Plateaux. Pole, Lusine (or L'Usine or L'Usine ICL). This is mostly at the minimal ambient end of things, with the melodies way low in the mix.

Most of the stuff on Chain Reaction was good too, I don't know if they're still going though. Have you tried minimal dubby techno?

Those words scare me off. That "Safety Positions" EP at Filtro for instance, IMHO is mostly ruined by the mix. I don't want hi-hat to stomp all over everything else, particularly when the hi-hat is the only thing in the track that's not doing anything interesting.

To me, mixing like that is the equivalent of people who post fancy desktop wallpaper at DeviantArt where the art itself is utterly fantastic, but then they give it some stupid, misspelled, wanky emo name and slap that right in the middle of the piece in an ugly font.

Maybe that doesn't really apply to those artists you named, but the talk about mixing just touched a nerve

No, no - don't worry. The melodies are low in the mix because that's where they're meant to be. I was just trying to suggest that it's more glitchy textural ambiences with maybe a hint of melody than upfront melodies with glitchy beats underneath.
