Sooooo...
It struck me recently that although I love dnb to bits for going out and dancing to, it's been a while since I bought any. So can anyone recommend some good recent albums to check out? Preferably stuff that works in album format but without being too 'rockist.'
Yeah, I know that dnb is meant to be club / 12" based music rather than home listening / album based, but I haven't got the time or money to keep on top of buying 12s; I'd just like something I can stick on and enjoy when I'm in the mood...

Most of my favorite d'n'b albums came out awhile ago (i.e. pre-2000), but for recent stuff, I like the following:
Pieter K - Everything All The Time (great melodic album)
Seba - Producer 06
Teebee - The Legacy (amazing production)
Calyx - No Turning Back (more dancefloor oriented, but some great songs)
You're right, though, most of the great stuff only comes as 12". If you're fiending for more, though, the labels that put out each of those CDs (namely Breakbeat Science, Good Looking, Subtitles, and Moving Shadow, respectively) are a great place to start.
There's also a bit of IDM-type stuff that has a bit of crossover with DnB, like a bit of Squarepusher's stuff or one of the more listenable Venetian Snares albums (e.g. Rossz Csillag Alatt Született is amazing).

Pendulums album has some bery nice tunes on it, the kind of thing you can listen to at home.
Talvin Singh is to me the undisputed god of 'easy listening drum n bass', but not sure if he has had anything out since OK.
Some of the Hospital records stuff is quite enjoyable, kind of happy upbeat jump up stuff, though I find the looped lifted string hooks etc get a bit weary after a while.
talking of Hopsital, ifd London Elektricity are as goon in teh studio as they are live then their stuff is worth checking out.
And yeah 4hero are nice.
just don't buy any bloody brazilian drum n bass, i can never lsiten to that stuff again after that period a couple of years back where all you could hear was marky stuff
I'm a bit out of touch really, can't afford to buy much at the mo.

Yeah, I'm kind of aware of the scene - I tend to listen to people like Bailey, Fabio and Grooverider etc on t' wireless. But from past experience they tend to get very excited about albums by their mates (who are admittedly superb at producing individual tracks) that turn out to be a couple of good tracks with a lot of generic filler or a couple of good tracks with a lot of meandering attempts to be clever and make a 'proper' album with a variety of styles none of which they're very good at. The trouble with twelves for me is that a) I'd quite like something I can stick on while I'm cooking and not have to keep turning it over and b) from experience I know that I tend not to listen to twelve inches more than a few times unless they're really life changing or I have a lot in a similar style and can get into binge listening.
One thing I'm inquisitive about at the moment are the last Calibre and High Contrast albums, but I've a suspicion that they'll fall into one of the above categories.
Speaking of Moving Shadow, though, I'm loving the reissue series they're doing at the moment. Mmmmm 2 Bad Mice. Can't wait for Renegade Snares.
