I remember installing a program on my old system which blocked loads of irriating stuff from downloading or being displayed in the browser (flash, banners, music/sounds, etc). I am pretty sure the name was something like "proxyimation" or something along those lines. Been looking for about 30 minutes and can't find anything though.
Anyone got any ideas?

Firefox has loads of extensions that will do what yer describing. Flashblock will do most of that, and just look in the web annoyances section for others - I recommend script block. It will block all yer java scripts from running unless the site is on a white list.
