Greater Croatan retains its current democratic republic-like consistency, not yet having realized it has been taken over by me, and is no longer the USA.

Color/Fruit Imagery: Someone mentioned Strawberry Alarm Clock, I think, but how about the Lemon Pipers?
Underground Comix Imagery: Commander Cody and his Lost Planet Airmen; R. Crumb and his Cheap Suit Serenaders.
Euphony: Remember the Honeydrippers? Osibisa? Nice-sounding names IMO.
Weird Origins, Group Named after Candy division: Squirrel Nut Zippers. Period.
Weird Origins, Group Named after Person division: Jethro Tull (important 17th-18th century English agronomist); Steeleye Span (a murderer in early English folklore? I'm not sure about this one [edit: one of two guys fighting in a traditional English song]); Uriah Heep (a character in Dickens' "David Copperfield"). Honorable mention to Engelbert Humperdinck, a person (1960s pop singer; real name Arnold George Dorsey) stage-named after another person (19th-century German composer).
