Anyone using that reverb?

http://www.tcelectronic.com/VSS3PowerCore

How much instances can be loaded on Firewire version.
This seems to be good reverb. If it is realy ported from System 6000

copypaste from site: The VSS3 Stereo Source Reverb is ported 1:1 from System 6000

So can anyone tell something more about it. There are no audio demos yet full working Demo is available for download with few presets..

Post

well,

The VSS3 Stereo Source Reverb for ProTools and PowerCore is a genuine and original reverb directly ported from the System 6000. The VSS3 algorithm was researched and fine-tuned by TC engineers for over a year, resulting in an exceptionally precise tool. Similar to the chaotic response of a natural room, the VSS3 reacts differently to identical signals.

Used for effects purposes, extensive modulation possibilities are offered for the creation of detuned or chorused sustain effects for e.g. vocal, guitar, piano or horns.

Inherent in the VSS3 algorithm there are almost 800 parameters, equaling an astronomical amount of combinations, and this impressive set of parameters has been condensed to a very substantial and pertinent user interface.

With the VSS3 you get a package of presets that have in many cases become industry standards. The sound of VSS3 can be heard on thousands of albums and films.

The PowerCore version of the plug-in can be used with any VST, AU or RTAS* compatible audio system.

you'll get 8 of them on a firewire

and it's easily the best vst reverb
I believe every thread should devolve into character attacks and witch-burning. It really helps the discussion.

8!!!

Well i didnt think about that many. I was thinking about 4 at maximum in 48khz...

Impressive! What sample rate? Is there any difference in this result with varying settings?

uhm

Here is peformance chart from official site

http://tcsupport.custhelp.com/cgi-bin/t ... text=usage

Yeah link is long but you can use it 8)

It seems that Firewire has a small but better performance ratio compared to PCI mkII version. But still. Take in account that in FireWire and mkII you can find 4 DSPs so you can calculate how many instances you can use.

ahhh...we need some audio demos 8)

at 48 khz it uses 50% of the cpu and all the memory of one of my chips

but i have the old pci card which runs at 2/3 the cpu speed of the firewire - and it also has only a quarter of the memory of the firewire

so i got it wrong it would be 4 at 96 khz but 12(!) at 48 khz

edit the above perfomancve chart seems to suggest that only 8 on the firewire - but with more cpu left over for other plugs

Thanx for the info. The support thingy was down when I just tried it. Anybody with some audio demos, please?

The VSS3 is simply amazing. I'll try to post some demos either later today or tomorrow. The best thing to do would be to send me some files, pass them through it and post them back, otherwise I'll probably run some sampled drums and piano through it. The problem is I can only upload to SoundClick and up to 128kbps bit rate. Anybody care to host some higher resolution files?

Well, that's nothing special, they use it artful for marketing...
Nearly every (modern) reverb has such a huge amount of internal parameters that are combined and controlled by much less parameters of the user interface.

Anyway, the VSS3 is a good reverb, however, I much prefer the VSS4 of the System 6000 (not ported to PoCo), which is a completly new algorithm and one of the upper class reverbs. The VSS4 is definitly the reverb which makes the System 6000 worth to buy, not the VSS3... imho...

The VSS3 is from its sound and user parameters very similar to the older M3000 and M5000 reverbs (the last one I didn't pocess), even the presets are the same.

hey friteuse, i read in other threads that you know the artsacoustic reverb.
how is your opinion in the differences of those two?

The VSS3 is not similar to the M5000, but it is the main algorithm from the M3000.

Difficult question

I use the ArtsAcoustic Reverb a lot and I love it. It is very intuitive, flexible and has an excellent sound (esp. the new 64 bit mode is a killer).

Difficult to compare between AAR and VSS3 because both of them have their own taste and feature list, i.e. the AAR can shape the reverb tail and has 3 bands, the VSS3 cannot shape tails but has 4 bands...

In general, I would prefer AAR not only because of its great sound, which is at least as good as the VSS3 imo, but also I can use more instances than the 4 I could do with VSS3 on the System 6000.

Ah, I see :)
Do you know if it's exactly the same, or did they change anything (what?)?

I too would like to hear it in action. I have quality space for hosting so I sent you email.

And speaking of Powercore reverbs, I wouldn't mind hearing the ones that ship with the card too. It's a shame TC Electronic website doesn't have any dry/wet mp3s.
