Anyone Else Been Approached by Behringer?

i've always stuck up for Behringer, i dont know why. They're kind like the Walmart of Pro Audio gear - you can get everything you need for cheap in one stop from them. They have some good odds and ends that you sometimes need to fill in gaps in your studio. And about the Boss pedal ripoff lawsuit crap - if i was still an active performing guitarist i'd buy those over the boss originals any day. the boss ones were noisy as they were and no one hears that in a live concert.

I got approached by Behringer in a public restroom once. Said they were "interested in comparing hardware"

I have a pair of Truths , used to use their bigger mixers when I had hardware and several of their compressors , and effects units etc.
All of them worked 100% flawlessly.

Their analog mixers were terrible back in the day. I haven't tried any of their stuff since, the experience was so bad, but would probably be very impressed with their monitors from what I hear.

And the rumours about slave labour in South East Asia never did their PR much good either.

They have improved the quality of their mixers no end.
Do a very good digital board too BTW.
There Vamp and Vbass are damn good for the price also.
And they are based in China like Mackie / Fender and bazillion other hardware/instrument developers.
So I don't know where this SouthEast Asian slave labour crap came from. .

Under UK law, no VAT is charged on biscuits and cakes — they are "zero rated". Chocolate covered biscuits, however, are subject to VAT at 17.5%. McVities classed its Jaffa Cakes as cakes, but in 1991, this was challenged by Her Majesty's Customs and Excise and the case ended up before the courts.[6] This may have been because Jaffa Cakes are about the same size and shape as some types of biscuit. A question that the court asked itself was "what criteria should be used to class something as a cake?"

McVities defended its classification of Jaffa Cakes as cakes. In doing so it produced a giant Jaffa Cake to illustrate that its Jaffa Cakes were simply mini cakes.

McVities argued that a distinction between cakes and biscuits is, inter alia, that biscuits would normally be expected to go soft when stale, whereas cakes would normally be expected to go hard. It was demonstrated to the Tribunal that Jaffa Cakes become hard when stale. Other factors taken into account by the Chairman, Mr Potter QC, included: name, ingredients, texture, size, packaging, marketing, presentation, appeal to children, and manufacturing process. Contrary to a commonly held belief, whether something is considered a 'luxury item' is not a test for VAT purposes.

Mr Potter ruled that the Jaffa Cake is a cake. McVities therefore won the case and VAT is not paid on Jaffa Cakes.

Müller Light contains gelatine to enable the product to gel, but as a result the yoghurt is not suitable for vegetarians; Müller reports that they are looking for a vegetarian alternative to gelatine [4].

It was quite a long time ago (early-mid 90s) that the rumours were flying around. I can't remember the details, so I ain't gonna start dissing them again for it.

Like I said before, my personal experience with them was from a few years back when their mixers really were terrible. To tell you the truth, I'm actually pretty interested in their Truth speakers.

But I would never compare the company to Walmart - truly a world apart in corporate ethics. Walmart a two-edged sword? Both sides of the blade are doing their best to destroy this country.

Kinda funny how they have a German name and call everything Euro-this-and-that.

I'm not fussed. The whole point of me making them in the first place is to promote NOVAkILL so if NOVAkILL synths are being distributed with Behringer products, its actually doing us a huge service.

I would re-think that if I were you. You will forever be associated with the crappiest gear on the planet. How many bands seek a Behringer endorsemnet? Make them give you money. Just some thood for fought.

I have several pieces of Behringer gear and I am absolutely blown away at what they can give me for so little money. I would happily enodrse them and have no problem at all being associated with them.

Their mixers have like no headroom at all.

I'm extra happy with the mixer I got. Sure, the on-board FX are noisy but as it only cost A$20 more than the non-FX version, its still an absolute bargain. The pre-amps are fine for my needs and the whole thing, sans effects, is amazingly quiet. It way surpassed my expectations for a A$129, 10 channel mixer with FX. I love it.
