Hey.

Hope this isn't too off topic, but I respect Sonic Reality user opinions. I'm looking to buy a 88 key weighted midi keyboard controller, and am wondering what people here use. Any particular one that people are flocking to? Squids, any favorite? I want something with pretty heavy action (akin to a Yamaha p80). Ideas?

Thanks,

Matt

Yamaha S90ES. I quite like it.

yeah i think you'll get another vote for Yamaha out of Squids. As for me my Keystation 61es really has had its day now, it's not even funny at this point how hard i have smashed the keys in.

Yamaha P60. Great for playing piano samples, but not much in the way of controls, but I'll always keep a regular 5-octave non-weighted around as an all-round MIDI controller, and for aftertouch.

yeah you need non-weights for your organ and synths stuff i find, well actually most other samples!

Yamaha KX88. The one and only.

What about the semi-weighted M-Audio keystation? Is it good? Any experience? :)

M-Audio keystaion 88 pro

I played with the M-Audio Keystation Pro 88 and quite liked it... Nice and ballanced feel to the weighted keys.

And it sure is pretty to look at. It's definitely worth your consideration. Though it isn't exactly cheap.

Fabulous piano action.
It makes the Keystation look like a toy and it's $100 less.
No gazillion controllers though.

another M-Audio 88key user here as well. I actually went from an 88Key Triton Studio to the M-Audio Keystation pro. I did miss the feel of the Triton Studio, but i have now gotten quite used to the M-Audio and I do like it.

I use an RD-700 as my weighted keyboard. I thought about the studiologic, but I'm so used playing the RD that I thought I'd stay with regular MIDI for now.
