However what's to stop someone from cracking a piece of software, make a few gui changes, post a demo, have a group sale and skip off with our money?
As far as community members I feel 99% secure, as far as the developers that have been the bread and butter of kvr I am 99% secure.
But look at some of the spam you get. I haven't used AOL in a long time, one reason was the spam I use to get...almost daily "we have lost you records, please send you cc number and password to us to update our records. When you clicked the link it looked exactly like AOL...but it was a scam.
A con artist could set up a dummy piece of software that's a cracked version of something else, create a dummy site (even a site that looks like another companies) and take group buy orders. By the time we knew they were not for real they would be gone. It might be hard to catch them depending on where they are from and even harder to get the money back.
I'm not suggesting a witch hunt, but I wonder if we should be a little more careful as more unknown developers appear or is paypal and secure checkcards/credit cards enough protection?...your thoughts?
