Have you even listened to the new album outside of that track?

number one rule for all pop music, good and bad: there is ALWAYS one absolutely stupid song to sell the album.

I mean think of system of a down's "Sugar" or Eminems "The real Slim Shady". They are just dumb songs made to sell otherwise good albums.

Really pop-centric production. I keep hearing the deejays around here spinning tracks from that album (especially "my humps" for some reason). IMO, it doesn't sound all that great on a big PA system, compared to other tracks of its ilk. Some of it sounds cool, but there's a lot of uncreative use of samples (that track from Pulp Fiction and you sycophants speaking over the top of it? geez, way to go ...), a lot of reliance on cliches for hooks (ie, that "no no no no" sound the woman uses in every one of the singles), and the production values that make for a 6 month career in hip hop (shallow, sugar-coated lyrics with lacklustre rhythm tracks). Nothing ground breaking or particularly interesting, although it is a slick production.

I've also had absolutely no respect for them since they became media whores - Apple, anyone?

It's a good pop album. Yeah it's not ground breaking, but pop isn't suppost to be.

talent.

it reminds me of Malcolm McLaren s "Something’s Jumping in my Shirt" to a rap beat.

How true. Only album I like is 'Behind The Front' (which IMO is a cracking album) - they've gone down the pan since (although I'm quite sure they're significantly more 'well-off' also...).
