As for hippies... just remember the old saying: "Never trust a hippy".
now THAT is really cool!!

Does the soft-synth have a monotonous-hippy loop function to make it sound authentic?
Narrow mided? Nah!
Unreasonable? Probably.
Pathetic post? That's your opinion, although you give no specifics. Question is - could I persuade you to change your mind about my post, or are you unreasonable too?

Careful dude, don't express an opinion on here based on your experiences - they'll have your balls!!!daExpert wrote:I have to say this with my experienced opinion: the didjitizer effect plugin is horribly useless. Well I appreciate your sense of humour about it. I am not out to just say that you are a fuckwit but I do believe you should look more holistically at many things. The didgeridoo is much more than just the sound it makes. It is an important instrument in the history of a race of people. It was/is used in ceremony and people from all over the world watch re-enactments of these ceremonies. I know a man that makes, sells and teaches how to play them. Each one is unique and is made of particular timber and created in part by termites. I also don't see anything informative in thedeaneager wrote:morelia wrote:I say you are a narrow minded fuckwit but that may just be a small part of your personality. comments. Australian aborigines have many problems integrating into a society and way of life that was forced upon them and drug and alcahol abuse is just one of them.alcoholic, crack-addicted Aborigine in Australia
You don't have to change my mind about your post. I have no doubt you don't like the sound of the didgeridoo. To be honest I get tired of it pretty quickly as well. In the right context though it is an erie, ambient sound that is to me inseparable from Aboriginal culture.Pathetic post? That's your opinion, although you give no specifics. The 'alcoholic, crack-addicted Aborigine' line was not meant to be derogatory toward the Aborigines. In fact (although, not obviously) I was taking the p*ss out the hippies all seemed to have the same story. It was almost the de-rigeur, touristy thing to do, "I'm not buying it unless you have at least one addiction I can tell the folks back home about."morelia wrote: I also don't see anything informative in thecomments. I'm sure, used in the right context, the didj is a very powerful instrument. 96 hrs of it being used in the wrong context, by white middle-class kids with dreadlocks, who are just blowing on it just 'cos they're too stoned to think of anything interesting to say might have taken any of that magic away, should I ever be lucky enough to experience it.
However, can a soft-synth really replicate all that you say goes into the real didjeridoo experience?

Too true. I dunno, I don't think I was taking it too seriously, I was just voicing what my brain was thinking at that particular moment.deaneager wrote:it's good not to take yourself so seriously, there are others out there who can do that for you.
If we've both done shrooms then I would say we're probably on the same level, a shroom trip is really all you need to understand itAbsolutely. In fact, odds are I know more about internal and external communication skills and the doors of perception than most - maybe even you.

It seems I may have over reacted to your post but it did come across a bit derogatory. I'm sorry for that.

You should be shot for that alone. (Metaphoricly speaking)
Firstly like Indegenous Australians in central Australia could even afford crack.
Not every Aborigine is a damn alcoholic either !!!!!!
Most of the Full Blooded indegenous peoples still live in thrid world conditions I might add.
My brother used to work as a lawyer for NALIS (Northan Aboriginal and Islander Legal service).
Having visted him and mixed with these people I can honestly say they are generally the most maligned and misunderstood people I have ever met.
They aren't all alcoholics.
They DEFINATELY are not CRACK USERS (this is f**king LA we're talking about you know).
Keep the racism and bigoted comments to yourself next time please

Firstly, At no point did I make a derogatory comment about Aborigines. The only derogatory comments I've made are about the white, middle class kids who get a kick out of telling their story of just how down-and-out and genuinely indigenous the Aboriginal they bought their didj from was (for f*ck-all of Daddy's money I might add). This is just before these kids go back to uni after their year out, get their degree, cut off their dreads and get a job for £30k.
Secondly - Me, racist & bigoted? B*ll*cks! Many of my friends and colleagues are Asian, black or gay. Hell, I shared a house with a homosexual couple for a year and was subjected to nearly as much bigotry as they, 'cos obviously I must be gay if I share a house with homosexuals (that last bit was sarcasm by the way, you may not have noticed). Black, white, gay, straight, Muslim, Jew, Hindi, whatever - I couldn't care less, 'cos it's our behaviour that counts. And the white, middle class, be-dreadlocked kids boasting about how cheaply they bought their didj; and how desperate the Aboriginal was who was selling it, is what I found distasteful.
Read my other comments on this thread and get a bigger (although not full) picture of me before you make your wild assumptions.
