This is totally trippy. Might be a bit tough to explain, but I'll do my best.

1) sit in a chair with your computer screen in front of you.

2) Hold an electric guitar in your lap with the guitar standing up (not you yourself standing up, but your guitar standing up so that the neck is pointing to the ceiling and the bottom of the body is in your lap. Have the guitar about 2 feet from the computer screen, and about 1 foot from your eyes.

3) Rotate the guitar about 20-30 degrees clockwise so that you can easily see the low "E" string (6th string, the thickest one). Keep both eyes on this string.

4) Now pluck the string in a way that you would normally pluck it.

5) Pretty Cool, eh. Try different angles and distances. Try keeping one eye closed.

6) Smoke a joint

7) Try it again

8) Wow!!! Even cooler!!! :):):)

The highest form of knowledge is empathy, for it requires us to suspend our egos and live in another's world. It requires profound, purpose‐larger‐than‐the‐self kind of understanding.

No guitar here to try it with. I'm guessing you're getting a stroboscope effect -- frozen / slowed-down motion, or something similar -- from the flicker of your display. Is that what you're seeing?

Didn't we have this deja vu before, Meffy?

Confirmed that my LCD doesn't seem to "strobe" noticeably when objects move in its light. Not with normal room light as well. A CRT will definitely do that.

Actually, I'd planned to put it off a while longer but you know how hurried things get after Thanksgiving.

=o.@= For you, okay. But the holding-up-to-the-monitor's-light part is going to take some doing. (* rolls up sleeves *)

are you talking about the sine wave that appears over the string? i can't reproduce it using the monitor. i haven't noticed it in a while. it may be because i quit doing drugs. seems i saw it in any light when i was on lsd. lately i've been trying to reproduce drug induced experiences without the use of drugs. i'll make this one of my projects
