To celebrate the release of the new Hollow Sun 'Definitive M1000', I have made four extensively multi-sampled 'tasters' available for free download:

Currently in S5/6000 and Z4/8 format (WAV samples) and GigaStudio 3 - hopefully other formats will follow.
Enjoy!

I had a Matrix 1000 before and greatly enjoyed it. Difficult to beat synth in my opinion. I did also have a Matrix 6 at some point and could do side-by-side comparaisons, the M6 had more bass.hollowsun wrote:To celebrate the release of the new Hollow Sun 'Definitive M1000',

The Matrix-6 and 1000 WERE the same synth internally. The 1000 couldn't be programmed from its panel and was monotimbral instead of bitimbral, and had the ROM patches. It also had a mono out instead of stereo outs (which were really only useful in splits and layers on the 6, anyways). Besides that, they're the same.

In an attempt to cost-down to the bare minimum, Oberheim might have made some component changes in the 1000 and putting some cheaper capacitors (whatever) on the output stages (or elsewhere) might have the effect of 'lightening' the bass end a bit. Can't say I hear it in the samples though which are not lacking in that area at all!!ew wrote:The Matrix-6 and 1000 WERE the same synth internally.
