not that i would dl a cracked version, but i'm just curious
All that needs cracking in FL is something to bypass the registry checking subroutine. Usually people like the H20 crew have a kernel debugger like SoftICE and set it to trap at the call to the registry, backtrace, and patch. If this works, they patch the actual binary with a hex editor and voila.

And no, I have no involvement with H20 etc. ... just happen to know this. I'm studying computer science, remember?
arke, you 1337 hax0r you!! :hihi:

FL Studio (upto v5) works perfectly with a (anyone's legit) registry key. Same for the demo plugs. There is no patching required of any FL exe/dll. Simple as that.

I am glad that IL (apparently) sees that employing any complex copy protection would be virtually useless. I like the fact that they focus their resources on making a supremely awesome host even better, and also on providing added value that comes with buying the software (free updates for life, access to looptalk, samplefusion, etc.). The price at $150 is not half-bad either. :D

We all know that they do get cranky sometimes, but I'll save that story for a separate thread.

If one came out before the other, everyone would by the earliest-relesed one so it wouldnt be fair. Things like this are promised when outlet to retail.

Maybe the online distribution method is simply not ready? Damn it's only a week. I thought people would be happy it's not two!

It doesn't have a lot to do with marketing.

Our (Battery, Recycle, Kontakt, Giga, ...) importer for DirectWave just isn't ready yet.

We hope to get it ready by monday, test it for another week and release it then.

As I'm gonna get this back anyway : Wanting the importer in DirectWave could indeed be called marketing :?

See ya,

What's amazing about the FL6 release: Image-Line has managed to get a product into brick & mortar retail stores faster than into digital download format. A case study of this might make an interesting counterpoint to one of the myths of the digital age.

Does that mean the boxed version doesn't have directwave? or it has a broken version?

The DirectWave included in the FL6 boxes only imports Wav, AKAI & SF2 files.

Boxed users that want to import Giga, Kontact, Battery, Recycle & EXS24 samples
as well will have to wait until next week & download FL6.0.1.

I would like to wish the FL team best of luck with sales, and hope they now get to take the long vacation to which they are entitled !!

If I were limited to one audio product, it would be FLstudio.

What new features are gonna be in F L 6 anyway ?
