(Many apologies if this has been posted about before..)

I was just trying out the Music Genome Project at pandora.com and thought I'd try a few bands out for matches. Lo and behold our very own Novakill (BONES) came up as second suggestion for music similar to "Suicide Commando". Interesting, I thought and not a bad way to get some exposure either :)

It's a bit of a shame that Pandora doesn't work outside the USA, i was getting good results from it for about an hour, then it required a valid american Zip code to continue.

I emailed them to find out why and they said that licencing rules differ too much from country to country, so for the moment, it's a US only service.

I've been using http://www.last.fm/ instead, it's not quite as good because it doesn't have the Genome project's categorisation data to draw from. I've found lots of music I'd never have discovered any other way though, so it's not that bad.

How long have you had it working for? I had it working for quite a while, but it probably added up to just a couple of hours of listening before stopping to ask for a zip code.
Vic Wong of Pandora wrote:Hi Martyn,

Sadly, we can only legally offer Pandora services to residents of the
United States at this time. Audio content streaming regulations differ
from country to country, and we are still working on acquiring the
proper licenses to accommodate them.

Its frustrating for us too, especially now that we have so many fans in
other countries.

We have also been experiencing some capacity difficulties due to a surge
of interest after the launch of Pandora free. We are working hard to
address these issues.

Thanks for trying Pandora. Keep checking back!

 Maybe the law's more relaxed about that sort of thing in Norway, I'm in the UK, we can't step over a white line in the road while wearing a walkman without getting taxed round here.

Pretty accurate, too. Its hard for me to pick similarities to other bands in our music but Suicide COmmando is one that I cannot really dispute, although I don't like 'em much - too samey.

Never listened to it for more than about 30mins.. So I guess I didn't give it enough listeningtime to give me that warning/stop.. Oh.. The laws in Norway about copyright are really relaxed, no one getting caught for piracy yet :P
