Anyone own or have tried these? I'm interested in the sound quality of the reverbs as well as the chorus.
Any subjective input would be much appreciated.

To be honest if its the first DSP card your buying i'd go for a UAD-1 , i own a TC powercore & 2 UAD-1's and i like the UAD-1 better and their plugins are more relisticly priced.
The Plate 140 reverb is lovely sounding...

I've checked out the demos for UAD-1 and I was mostly impressed with the high end stuff, including the Plate 140, but it's a much bigger investment to go the UAD-1 route. The TC element is only $350 and it has a reverb on it, which is mostly what I want because I'm really happy with all my native stuff---a really good reverb is really all I'm missing.CANE CREEK wrote:To be honest if its the first DSP card your buying i'd go for a UAD-1 , i own a TC powercore & 2 UAD-1's and i like the UAD-1 better and their plugins are more relisticly priced.

Since I like TC h/w reverbs I'm interested in the Element because for $100 more than Timeworks' plugin you also get DSP and a bunch of other effects so it seems like a good deal, but it all depends for me on how good the reverb actually is. I'm having a hard time finding any reviews online. Doesn't seem like too many people have this card.

Yes, you get that one and the Megaverb, as far as I know. It's hard to get info about this (it's been replaced by the much more expensive PoCo PCI Mk 2) but I'm pretty sure it's the same as the original Powercore PCI without the multiband stuff from the Finalizer.CANE CREEK wrote:which reverb do you get with the element ? if its the classic verb then i'd say go ahead as i use it often its a nice reverb.
Anyone who has/had the first Powercore PCI card, or the Firewire, could probably give me their opinion of the reverbs too. I'm also interested in the chorus.

Cane Creek---
Do you know about license registration on TC cards? If I buy a used one that only has the original bundle (no add ons), do I have to try to get it re-registered to use it? If so, do you know if TC is easy to deal with in this respect?

Mk2 is too expensive for me since I need a PC upgrade soon as well. I can get a much better deal buying a used Element so that's really the only one I'm considering. Otherwise I'll probabaly buy the Timeworks reverb since I'll have more power in my new PC so i'm not sure I really need an expensive DSP card.dxl wrote:get mk2 with vss3

A review of MegaReverb on the PoCo Firewire on Harmony Central said that it was really buggy and lost sync with the host (I don't know if he meant that latency compensation drifted out or what) within 5 minutes. This was written about 8 months ago, so it's pretty recent.
Anyone had any problems with performance (this or anthing else) with any of the PoCo effects? Problems syncing with hosts?
