Does this negate the $20.00 donationware status of the previous PLParEQ3?

I highly doubt it as David has been good to his wo0rd every step of the way.bk wrote:Does this negate the $20.00 donationware status of the previous PLParEQ3?

A word of caution to anyone looking at these plugs (PLParaX) for possible purchase: they do not run the audio both forward and backward like the more expensive 10 band and the donation 3-band, which makes them more akin to some of the other phase linear EQ's on the market.DuX wrote:This is an excellent price for such a gem. I'm gonna put it on my list now... This EQ is more than worth it.
Just wanted to point that out, since I missed that at first when I read the email. Judge for yourself if you still like the sound, but keep in mind they don't work the same way as the 3 band we've all been praising for the past month, so you will have to give them a good listen before deciding to buy if you are already experienced with the previous 3 band. Also, they have no phase warped mode. According to RAL, though, they use much less CPU.

Yep, Fripper... the X version is not IT...
. I've just been to their site and read things carefully this time.
Thanks for pointing it out!

My guess is that one idea behind the X versions is to give people an opportunity to buy an affordable version of this plug (the $50 3 band X version) after the end of the year, since the 3 band of the high-end PL will not be available then.

They're actually for tracking and mixing when you need several instances running. Can't do that with the non-x version unless you use rather low QL settings (even on very strong machines). So basically the X version is for tracking/mixing (a little less acurate and surgical than the 'big' version), the non-X version for mastering applications.

Finally gave the PLParEQ a try.
I was very optimistic, because of the loud praise here.
Task: shape treble of a trance-hook, reduce the noisy 9k and add shimmer with a hishelf above.
Result: extremely disappointed, result either harsh or dull. I tried the 4 band version. All my results were even worse than what the Sonalksis delivered.
Then the URS eqs (a combination of the FullTec and N-Series) - once again - did that (not easy) job perfectly.
Now i would be interested in a scenario, where this EQ works, to give it a second chance.

50 pages of praise and no one can tell me an example, where this EQ works as good as claimed?
