Hi there, I'm new here to the board, so, at first, hi to everyone!

:help:

I'm writing here cause i need your advice, i want to get a special synth sound like it is used in one of Rammstein's songs...
Here is a sample, the synth-riff is played with that sounding:

Can you tell me how to get that sound?

Thank you alot!

Welcome Apo

It sounds like it could be FM or PD with a really short decay on the amplitude and sustain at 0 and a bit of bright reverb. If you have a simple FM or phase distortion synth around (there are plenty of SE vsti like this) try modulating a sine with a saw... You would either want to use a BR filter or an LP opened all the way up. Sounds like there could be some sort of modulation or bit reduction sort fo fx on it as well, but it could just be a combination of my headphoes (at work) and the quality of the mp3.

Hope that helped a little...

Yeah, thanks a lot at first.

But as i am more the "audio-noob", i don't really know what you mean my FM, PD or SE...
I at first tried to imitate that sound with an 3xOSC and got someway close with sines and saws, but it wasn't really what i was looking for.

Could you give me any name of some VST i could use?
Thanks!

FM = Frequency Modulation (a form of synthesis)

LP = Lowpass (as in lowpass filter)

BR = Band reject (another type of filter)

SE = ??? :lol:

SE: Synthedit, a development platform

Sounds like it has a flanger on it too.

What ever happened to Rammstein anyways? I was a huge fan of their first 3 albums, and then they made one that was mostly english right? There was a song about "Amerika" sung in english that made me want to laugh or not take it seriously. :(

Amerika was the song that Americans thought was glorifying their country... :nutter:

We're all living in America
America is wonderful
We're all living in America
America, America

I know moves that are very useful
and I will protect you from missteps
And whoever doesn't want to dance at the end
doesn't know yet that they must
We're making a nice round dance
I will show you the way
Santa Claus is coming to Africa
and Mickey Mouse is standing in front of Paris

We're all living in America
America is wonderful
We're all living in America
America, America

We're all living in America
Coca-Cola, Wonderbra
We're all living in America
America, America

This is not a love song
This is not a love song
I don't sing my mother tongue
No, This is not a love song

We're all living in America
America is wonderful
We're all living in America
America, America

We're all living in America
Coca-Cola, sometimes war
We're all living in America
America, America

Rammstein is alive and well, they've released many other songs after Amerika, but since the songs are in German they are not very likely to be played outside of Europe. Their conserts are incredible.

Quite OT, but though i don´t have a problem with dealing
with the Dritte Reich aesthetics à la Riefenstein in a
somekind striking way these lyrics seem quite simple to me.

I like "Engel". ;)

Kinda like if I, as an American, wrote a song about the holocaust, Hitler, and Octoberfest and sang it it German and called it Jermany.

My favorite is "Tier" nothing will beat their second album. They have the heaviest guitar sound in the world!!

If you like Rammstein hear
Knorkator (in my opinion better than Rammstein)

RAMMSTEIN have a brand new album out. Its their worst to date but has one or two decent songs on it. Its called Rosenrot [Red Rose?].

As for that sound, You could do it with anything. Try using an LFO with a noise waveform and applying it to the osciallator pitch to get that tuned noise sound.

I've had the chance to get the tracks of "keine lust" (to make a remix which didn't make it to the single), so FWIW I know they are using ES2. That's the lead-synth in that particular track...

LFO W/ noise waveform? I always assumed it was just a bunch of nicely layered guitars.

Try it. I used to do it on my SH-101 back in the day. On further listening I think it might actually be a guitar sample but my trick should do a decent job.
