I stupid! Where am I supposed to click to get "my own free page". I can't see the link! Can you make it bigger?

Post

soundclick is well known, click my sig to see what you et with 10 bux a month (vip) thankfully SC has come a long way since July (it's been around for a long time) when they nade radical changes. It use to go down often, but now it's quite stable. Also you use to get nailed with pop-unders (not pop-ups) when navigating anywhere other then your page, those too seem to be gone. I's hardly the only place with free hosting, but i is one of the largest. :)

In the words of Alice Cooper...give the kid a break...he's obviously excited about posting his music, when I get back from the hospital I'll check out his tune...;)

@ JOHN VULICH ----I am excited --------- and I suspect that maybe a few noobs are too .
If you're not excited about your own music , give up and stop wasting time slagging off my post.
Obviously , you are now the ruling elite who is too big and powerful to bother with such a deminuitive post aimed at NOOBS who would relish the chance to upload their music anywhere for free , so wind your neck in OK ----- This ones for the NOOBS who dont know where to go --- who dont know one end of a mouse from the other , but have an overwhelming desire to make music and get it heard !!!!!!!!!!! :x :x :x

Just remember u were once a noob too ( have u forgotten ? )

I would of agreed with you a year ago, but they have fixed some serious issues. I have not been disapointed since the server change. I did ask SC support last July when they went down for a couple of days if they could give me one good reason why I should stay. They responded by saying that they understood my grief and wouldn't blame me if I moved on, they then asked me to give it a try one last time after the server change, I did and I am glad I did. :)

From the Soundclick legal agreement page:

License Grant. You hereby grant to us, and by the act of delivering Standard Program Material to us grant to us, a nonexclusive, worldwide, royalty-free license to: (a) reproduce, distribute, publicly perform, publicly display and digitally perform the Standard Program Material in whole or in part (including the right to create compilations which include your songs); (b) create and use samples of the Standard Program Material solely for the purpose of demonstrating or promoting our or your products or services; (c) use any trademarks, service marks or trade names incorporated in the Standard Program Material in connection with your material; and (d) use the name and likeness of any individuals represented in the Standard Program Material only in connection with your material.

So basically they could do whatever the hell they want with your stuff - in theory. You still obviously have the copyrights, but I would feel a bit queasy putting my stuff under such an agreement, no matter how standard fare it is...

Thanks Hink -------- nice to get a response from someone who is supportive and not intent on burnin ya like a bug with his toy magnifying glass.

Not only do soundclick let you put all your tracks on their site , but theres a great community there where I've met some outstanding musicians ( USB , DrStylus , Smashed toy , Herbsquare , Primate of the year ...... to name a few ).
Feedback is always forthcoming , and they treat noobs with as much respect as anyone else.

Todays noob could be tomorrows Boards of Canada !!!

If you think u r that person , get along to SOUNDCLICK
You are welcome !!!!!! :) :) :)

I dunno, they have over a million members, can you point to any that have been ripped off, taken advantage of or anything else? As you say you still have your copyrights and a song is considered copywritten upon writing of the song...I think you need to reread the terms. I read it as they have the right to use your music to promote your music or their site, they do not reserve the right to sell your music. It seems if they did use your material you would benefit from it. I think your summation is way off...:)

@ Hybernation ---- yeah I did check out your page -------- didnt know u were there too. Nice tunes but too middle of the road for me. I like my leftfield off-the-wall electronica. IDM stuff.

some self - promotion is always necessary ---- peeps wont know u are there unless you tell them.

Anyway , thats neither here nor there ------- the whole point of this post was to highlight to those who are new to all this , that soundclick is a great place to put your tracks onto and well worth the praise !!!!!

If anyone thats criticised this post so far thinks that they can set up a better site , tell me and i'll join it , no actually , forget it cos you'd be there and it would be F**ked before it got off the landin strip !!!

The way I read it (please correct me if I'm wrong I'm not a master of law n stuff), you grant them the right to publish your music on their website, which is what it's all about. But it also includes products which they can sell. So in otherwords, if they decide your music (and others) is worthy of a compilation album then they can sell that and you aren't due anything from it, not even royalties.
But it can also mean they can put ads up on their site and earn revenue from that and they don't have to pay you. Which amounts to the same thing on the extreme end of the scale. So what is missing is there doesn't appear to be any clauses there excluding them from the right to sell your music.

Aside that - I rate the site highly - and have recommended it lots of times to people. Just so you don't think I'm slagging them off. It's a good deal up to apoint to host your music for free.
