That's not true. Most mobo manufacturers are in Taiwan, as are most RAM companies and a lot of other compnent manufacturers. I think a lot of LCD panels come from China but most components come from Taiwan. Seagate makes their drives mostly in Singapore and the Dell stuff you buy here in Australia all comes from Malaysia, via Singapore.

I wouldn't touch a Behringer mixer with a bargepole - but that's because I've used good mixers in the past with far better noise specs. I don't like their nasty blubbery Eq. I don't play live, and I'd use a desk solely for recording.
If I were to play live, I seriously don't think I'd have a problem with using Behringer. At least I'd feel reasonablyassured that it would still be working in 3 years time. I've had a Studiomaster go tits up on me, and that cost more at the time. I've had a Tascam go tits up too. I've also bought far more expensive desks that sounded far superior to any Behringer - but I had to pay for the privilege.

My little Behringer mixer has no noise issues at all [except in the effects, as I mentioned], it is far and away the quietest mixer I've owned. It replaces a locally made Passac Untiy-8 which had a huge reputation for being very quiet but the Behringer made it feel like the trains were on strike [where did all that racket go?].
As for EQ, I don't think I woudl ever be able to afford a big desk that could outperform my software mixer. Its EQ is as good as any studio desk I've used.

Yeah...that's the rub, really. To get a desk with decent Eq doesn't come cheap. I used to have big fancy desks, but got rid when I moved to NZ (ran out of space in the container ). And now it would just cost too much to get me something I'd be happy with - especially in NZ - almost no 2nd hand market and new desks cost the earth. Personally I'm not that fond of the usual host Eq though - they tend to sound lifeless to me. But that's as a comparison to fancy desk Eq. Certainly there are Eq plugins that I like that are still cheaper than any decent desk. Another reason why I'm also not in a hurry to return to physical mixers. (I prefer a desk, but it's not worth the expense at the moment...)

Having said all of that though - to me, the benefit of good desk Eq is only really heard when you use very strong boosting - which I rarely nowadays do. Although I still prefer a decent analogue Eq to most s/w, even I'll admit that in the context of a mix, it may not even be noticeable. Maybe if I had a decent desk, I would use strong boosting more - I used to use big mid Eq sweeps as an FX occasionally that I wouldn't consider with any bog-standard digital Eq.

TBH, what would really tempt me back to a physical mixer would be if one with no Eq at all apart from a HPF to cut bass. It always bugged me that it was impossible to find a simple but high spec mixer with the proper routing options etc, but without Eq. That should cut the cost, and I'm sure there's a general need for that type of thing. I would have loved one. To cut out all of the little-used Eq could maybe even allow for another 8 channels for the same price (possibly). Hmmmm...just some nostalgic rambling....

No-one from Taiwan would agree with you [that it counts as part of China] and it certainly doesn't feel any more like China than Chinatown in your favourite western city. In my experience, Taipei is actually quite unique in Asia - they drive bigger cars and the shopfronts have awnings over the footpath [sidewalk] so you don't get wet whilst you're wandering about in the rain. Food's great, too. As for Numark, I've never used any of their stuff but what I've seen in shops feels cheap and not terribly robust.

I'm not fussed. The whole point of me making them in the first place is to promote NOVAkILL so if NOVAkILL synths are being distributed with Behringer products, its actually doing us a huge service.

Anyway, apparently it doesn't sicken you to have Behringer leveraging your hard work for their financial benefit.

Mackie and Fender both also make higher-end products in the USA.

If they named the company after the factory where they're really made and called the mixers "China-desk" people would have a completely different perception of them even though they would be exactly the same.

I'm considering signing the deal if I can get some compensation for it. I could really use the money or the swag(which I would probably sell, tuition and rent is expensive ), but I don't want to get screwed.

Yep. I have a Volkswagon "Bora" -- a tarted-up version of the Jetta. Great car too!

FWIW: I use a 'MEKSE' six-channel mixer for my portable recording rig. Mekse is a Chinese-made product that Behringer re-badges as it's own -- all made here by Enping Kunhong Professional Audio Co., Ltd. It works fabulously.

MEKSE Mixers

There is no great effort or extraordinary expense in making quiet electronics these days -- just look in any of the factory op-amp and semi-conductor tech manuals. The components are industry standard across the board (regardless of hype).

That said, the pots they use are pretty noisey (cheap) so these can introduce some noise and some gain inconsistencies when tweaking -- esp when the contacts get dirty. But I've had this problem in the recent past with three rather expensive Tapcos also (live recording environments can be rough) so I know that "price tag" does not always equal quality.

My advice is to not dismiss Behringer (or any discount mixers/audio components) outright -- it may suit your needs for a particular use quite admirably. As I said, the core electronics specs are virtually the same as those in the higher-end gear. Don't wanna be a fool with your hard-earned...

And I think Bones plugs are way cool and more power to him with any sort of support arrangement he can get with Behringer or anyone else -- and we should be supportive of ALL of our devs in this regard, yeah?
