Hi ManyGuitar Users

I wanted to start this thread for ideas you may have to make ManyGuitar even Better than it is already.

I have these few ideas below that I would like to see eventually be added to ManyGuitar. I have also talked with the coders and some of these are even being considered now!

Anyways here is ManyTones' Wishes .....

*** Built in preset system -maybe like CronoX style with folders for presets that can then be grouped and organised - Folders like E Guitar, Acoustic, Bass , Exotics , Mandolins, whatever you want.
A Browser opens to show all the folders of organised Presets.(Rather than a full FXB or having to load other FXBs) ...this will put them all at hand organised.

*** Built in Midi Player - Groove player - ability to choose some chords and Patterns and perhaps edit them to help construct songs etc. Especially strums would be nice to call up.

*** DFD - Direct from Disk option - This has been discussed (and worked on a bit) as a possibility in the future but would come in a Major Version update and would have to be very cpu friendly and Reliable before we even consider it. As it stands now the system we currently use in ManyGuitar (Load into Ram) is Extremely CPU friendly and preferable in most cases except perhaps for Big Samplesets.

*** More Amp sim Modes and more FX - being able to use both chorus and phaser at same time (perhaps) and also adding a Reverb Mode to the Echo and a few more FX like ... Octaver, and....... ?

*** Layers - to blend sounds, the ability to load more than 1 soundset in combination.

*** Of course more samplesets and playing styles ... Heavy Rock chuggs, Les Pauls, Acoustic Basses, Standup Basses, Hollow Bodies, Vintage Instruments etc etc.

And? (ADD your Feature Requests below)

The above is the start of My wish List and details some of the things that we hope to do with ManyGuitar.

Guess we have to sell a few copies first though before we can justify Building a Monster!! ;-)

Enjoy Guys!

I'm not sure if you left any gaps with your list here Paul :).

Re: Presets: AFAIK the preset browser of Cronox (and other Linplug products) is based on 1 level of directories. The approach that WilliamK has taken for Wusik v2 is nice too.
OTOH ManyGuitar already offers very nice wizzards to set up the basis for sounds, I'm not sure to what extent other people use presets, or just use soundsets + wizzards (which is more the EVE ONE approach as well).

Re MIDI and strumming: YES, either built-in, or maybe as a library with strums and chords. Did you ever get or use the software PowerChords (Howling Dog software)? They did a great job at this, 10 years ago.
Maybe this should not be part of ManyGuitar, but a seperate VST, that can be placed in front of ManyGuitar...

Re Effects: A modular approach to setting up effect chains could be nice, but that would probably ruin the current pretty user interface. (modular as in Helian or even SpectrumWorx (not guitar, but a nice approach)).

Re Layers / blending: My personal opinion would be to leave that to Manystation, at least blending soundsets, and keep ManyGuitar as a top notch guitar instrument.

Yee-har! This would be great.
If you could sequence rythmic guitar parts that could then be switched by configurable midi notes and/or CCs and at the same time use a keyboard range to transpose on the fly, then woohoo!

Even if you needed to input the full chord in an octave range (or 2 octave range) that would be awesome!

Imagine how much easier and more fun it would be to sequence rythm guitar parts. ;)

I quite like the 'right click on GUI background' to bring up the presets, in 4 columns of 32 presets, like in Pentagon, Scorpion, JunoX etc etc. You can still have banks A, B, C and so on, when a new bank is loaded, just those presets come up, load a new bank and click on GUI and the new presets come up.

I think I heard some rumours about a feedback module...

Yes, Paul, the world needs more mandos. Stay tuned for a Mandola sample onslaught soon. The old Gibson Mando Rock Chuggs after that!

Congrats on your non-mando Many release.

I would like to see more presets, acoustic strumming, 12 string strumming patterns and picking patterns, more guitars in more genres. Maybe a few more amp simulations? My buddy, who is a guitarist, asked if I had a Marshall Stack preset - I replied "duh" - I had no idea what he was talking about. lol.

Maybe manyguitar should come with a "guitar basics 101" acrobat file (or a link to one for purchase) to explain to keyboardists the fundementals of being a guitarist. That way we can bend strings or implement feedback properly. And don't forget the all important acoustic guitar sound that is made when your fingers slide across those strings (like a darn chalkboard - I tell you).

Although I jest a bit, I am actually a tiny bit serious - some of us keyboardists (me) really have no clue how to be a guitarist - although I feel I pitch bend pretty well on my Karma.

One last thing - I am using a Technics KN7000 as my midi master keyboard right now (handy USB interface and 66 keys) and I KNOW the pitch bender works properly when I play the internal sounds, but on many manyguitar sounds I try to pitch bend and get only the SLIGHTEST curve - almost nothing (I can hear it trying to pitch bend, but it never gets very far at all). I don't know if it's an internal programming thing or something wrong - anyone have an idea? I will look at the defaults for pitch bending and see if that helps. Is there someplce in manyguitar for setting the pitch bend range?

Thanks.

Mike

My vote would be for fuzz and wah-wah effects. It would be great if you could control the wah using the mod wheel. :)

Also, could you tweek the depth of the tremelo up a bit? I used to have an amp where the tremelo cut in and out totally. It's a great effect. :)

You can already make a tremolo that cuts out completely if you use the Amplitude modulation LFO.

What I do for a wah effect is use a lowpass filter with a little bit of resonance. Check out the preset: Funky Wah MW.

Thanks Greg. :)

I'll see if I can figure it out.

The Wahwah will take some adjusting to get it to sound right, but check out that preset (Funky Wah MW) and be sure to mess around with the mod wheel. :)

5-String/Growly Basses

May have already been mentioned, but a Rickenbacher 5-string with a fresh set of Rotosounds tuned to maximum growl and played with and without pick would be an excellent soundset for us prog-rockers.

I'm having trouble getting the kind if "tin" I want from the current set.

Also, for the slap style, I would love a slap set with looped sustain, because I like a bass with major attack attitude but that can still fill in the low ends.

I really use the fifth string on 5-string basses a lot, so if possible, I recommend making 5-string (at least) bass standard, even if it means actually drop-tuning a 4-string.

I'm sure I'll think of other things, but I must say I'm tremendously pleased with the killer combination of samples and software the ManyStation/UBK/ManyGuitar suite provides.

Keep the excellence coming! :hihi:

the feature I would like to see most is the ability to toggle between two or more soundsets, i.e. chugs/lead or a strat sustain soundset to a strat mute soundset.
