Moog is a brand of synth that was owned by the inventor of the synthesizer, Robert Moog, who died this year.

Well he didn't invent the synthesizer, but mass produced the first portable and affordable synth (the minimoog). Prior to that the only synths were modular. He's basically the Henry Ford of synths.

Google is something that gives you alot of information... There's too much of it that it doesnt make sense...

actually after a quick google, Ive found sources that say he borrowed ideas from modulars built by this guy: http://www.obsolete.com/120_years/machi ... index.html

The Moog effect is... every time you post this name, everybody clicks the topic!

No, seriously. Robert Moog built the first mobile synthesizer, called Minimoog. Before that, synthesizers were big enough to fill whole rooms or closets. While Moog did not atually *invent* the synthesizer (synthesizers were already built back in the 1940ies), he redefined what a the perception of what a synthesizer was.

And it sounded good.

Quick tip for Googling: type define: before your search i.e. define:Moog. Google will return only pages that are classed as definitions of the word you searched for.

There were synthesizers going back to 19th century. In the pre-WW II period there was at least one relatively sucessfull synthesizer -- Theremin.
