I've had a UAD1 for quite a long time now, and when dreamverb came out, I (silly me) activated the demo at a time when in fact it turned out that I had not enough spare time to really test it....
Now I'm out for a new reverb, but of course the demo has expired.

What do you (real UAD1/dreamverb users) think of it ?
I mean, I'm interested only in opinions of people knowing and using the plug, not in the kind of the "dude UAD sucks, you hould buy a Powercore, or a XX native plug".
Thanks in advance !

If you contact UA, they will be able to reset the demo for you, so you can try it out for yourself.

I don't tend to use my UAD-1 for reverbs, as it's the vintage stuff use it for. It's good - not as good as convolution reverbs, but if you need a decent reverb with a limited CPU hit, it should work for you. The interface takes some getting used to though.

What are your present reverbs?

Yes, I would email UA and ask to have the Dreamverb demo reset. They have done that for UAD-1 users, in the past, when demo's have expired.
While the Plate 140 is my fav, I still like to use the DreamVerb for creating space. UA has added a lot of usable presets, for the DreamVerb (literally hundereds of them), but beyond the presets, the GUI is one that took me a while to get my head around. There is an excellent DreamVerb demo video, on the UA website, that you may want to check out. It really gets into how the different parameter's (like room shape, materials, resonance, mute, etc.)are used to create a reverberant space:

Isn't that the guy Ernest used to ramble to in his sleep?

I love me some Dreamverb. Don't quite understand why most people overlook it. It certainly doesn't sound like a fake/extra-lush Lexi/EMT/Roland style verb, but it really excels at modelling real spaces. Once you get enough experience with it you can make outstanding drum rooms. Also the ER section used by itself is great. Using the RS-1 on individual track inserts for ERs combined with one Dreamverb send with only the tail active is a great way to acheive a cohesive sense of stereo space.

I think Dreamverb can definately compete with a lot of IRs of real spaces if you take the time to program it right. Dunno if I would spend $149 or whatever it costs now, since I got it for free as part of a promotion a few years ago :) .

Talk to UA, they are nice folks and will probably give you a demo-reset. I would take the EMT 140 over it anyday, but it isn't as versatile.

Thanks everybody
I did send a message to UA support, and so I'll see next week if I get some positive feedback.
To tell the truth, I'm looking more for something with a lot of useful presets in the usual categories like hall, ambience, stage, medium room, theater... (seems to be the case, so do you say billybk1) more than a powerful verb engine which demands a steep learning curve and hours of tweaking.
(as for now, I use Cubase SX reverb, and Pristine Space with free IR's, which sounds good but a bit cryptic for me with all its buttons, wiring options, etc... (and a thick user manual !)
My first demand is just "natural" tails and clarity, I know, those are a bit vague words, but well I'm a "basic" user 8)
BTW : other opinions still welcome ! :)

The Dreamverb's tails are smooth & clear, it reminds me a lot of the Powercore Megaverb (an algorithm from the M2000 or M3000 so it's considered to be good stuff). That said, I personally don't use it or the Megaverb at all any more & would recommend the less versatile but better sounding Plate over it.

I just rechecked and there are about 100 presets subdivided into catagories (halls & spaces, plate, drums, guitars, keys & horns, rooms, vocals & special fx)

I use three 'verbs; StereoRoom 2016, Dreamverb, and my actual Eventide DSP4000. For convolution, I use GigaPulse.

Dreamverb, to me, is amazing. I got it along with my UAD-1 as well, but it's easily worth the $149. I used it on my Philharmonik demo tunes I wrote, for example.

Dance By The Lake
Sneak Attack

The tails can be very natural, and it doens't suffer from the metallic 'ring' like the horrible Reverb A/B in Cubase.

When you tested the UAD at Traxmusic you gave the Dreamverb a rather average review.Well, maybe not average but certainly not amazing.
Changed your mind? :D

Jupiter.

I reviewed the DreamVerb at trax.

I think the Room Verb from Spin Audio sounds better.

I hardly ever use reverbs in my songs, only on vox and even then just a bit, but in my testing the Room Verb MII was a bright star. It was easy to program, had good presets, had a very nice tail (even at extreme settings) and last but not least the GUI looks cool.

Don't miss to check out the ArtsAcoustic Reverb:

http://www.kvraudio.com/get/1725.html

That might be the one your looking for, it is quiet easy to use and comes with about 200 categorizised presets (like "for piano" or "rooms/halls" etc., see review)

I know, it's not for UAD, but anyhow a serious alternative with an extraordinary sound quality.
