It's funny to talk about "The" sound, when the instrument has a practically infinite variety of sounds.

It had crappy sounds, and it had delicious sounds. Compare and contrast the ways it was used by George Harrison versus Keith Emerson :-)

It's best to play it yourself than hear it in records to get the full-on effect.

Download minimogue luxus for a tester.

Or try minimonster's demo.

THere's something distinctive in moog harmonics that feels really good to play.

Still, the Minimoog filter definitely has a characteristic sound.

I agree. I think the Moogerfooger pedal is underrated, btw.

yep, not The Doors or The Beatles. And they beat The Byrds to it by about 4 weeks.
Yep. The Monkees' "Star Collector" and "Daily Nightly" were the first pop songs to use the Moog.

I agree they had two or three pretty good albums - I still like PISCES AQUARIUS. And HEAD, of course, is very cool. Nesmith wrote some good songs spread out over various albums.

I could be alone in being old enough to have seen the Monkees live in concert. They actually put on a good show, although I might have been a bit impressionable...
