Anybody who is serious about their music will pay for their guitars, their microphones, their PCs, *and* ther software. Period. Stop stealing guitars.
Or using the guitar of a friend. Of course, if he can't lend it to you at the moment, you're SOL. Same with the app, if it crashes because its cracked, or screwed something up, you're SOL. It's called a temporary solution and I'm all for that, sometimes you just can't get the real thing on your own pocket at the moment. It's christmas right now, anybody that doesnt have more money than they could spend will know that this is the time of the year of the empty wallet.
Do you seriously not see the difference between borrowing a guitar from a friend and using cracked software?

just for the record, I have a considerable amount of gear, but that is due to time and giving up other things...like before I buy a plasma tv I'll buy gear, I don't travel often...I'm not rich, but I'm not poor either and I can say that at least today if you spend a grand on your studio you get a lot for your money.

I remember buying a new Yamaha 4 track, a used Yamaha RX17 drum machine and a used Lyons P-bass copy and an sm57 for 999 bux.

Perhaps some people think that some of us older people that now have a few bucks put aside don't understand...yet we probably understand more.

In fact quite boldly stated (and I'll duck), I think many younger people starting in music today are very spoiled and less then grateful or appreciative. You can buy FL producer for 150 bux, in the past you couldn't even whistle a tune into a recorder for that, never mind all the synths that are free out there that can be used in FL.

Back in the day you had very few choices, I even remember some of the first digital delays (deltalab?). I remember spreading the catalogs out in front of me. "Someday I'll have that recorder, that mixing board...." When the day arrived that I could start the task of building my studio beyond a 4-track the cost was significantly less because it took me so long the whole digital scene appeared.

So yeah I understand, I also understand waiting 10 plus years to even get my feet wet...now I am completely humbled by what I have and I waited damn near a quarter century to go from 4-track and reading those catalogs (and dreaming) until now.

However never would the thought of stealing gear ever have been entertained.
Times have changed, and back then there weren't nearly as many options as there are today. If you needed a GM synth, you got a Roland Sound Canvas or a Yamaha TG, or if you needed a high quality ROMpler, you picked up a JV or Trinity (all of which you could demo in the stores), etc. Now if you want a quality, yet affordable orchestral library, you have your choices: GPO, Miroslav, MOTU, EastWest, soundfonts, samples... it can make you dizzy and not every company releases a good demo of their product (God damn MOTU! :tantrum:), so if you choose one that doesn't suit you, you're SOL. I see your point, though, and I think you're right in that we're spoiled today. You definitely gave me something to think about. :D

perhaps, but we might be the wiser...;)
The highest form of knowledge is empathy, for it requires us to suspend our egos and live in another's world. It requires profound, purpose‐larger‐than‐the‐self kind of understanding.

well that's a moot point, I mean you'll be ugly all your life anyhow

because the one irrevocable fact in life is:

Young people become old people.....

It's amazing how your perspective changes as
the years march by.

You don't have to use pattern mode in FL.
I know aguy who's usedFL for a year or so and never used the patern mode.
he does it all in the audio tracks with samples.
he just drags samples from the browser onto
tracks and cuts , pastes...stetches 'em.

When you look at FL that way it's very
similar to ACID ony better.......

Of course if you do happen to want to add
a pattern to a tune done in that way it's very convenient that it will just be in
sync and can be lined up eaxctly with the
audio......

The pattern-based functionality is what makes me prefer FL Studio
