The green button. Press it. Because contrary to popular belief, your penis does not get any longer by clicking 'reply' on each post and accusing the OP of pushing warez.
Mine doesn't look like that at all....
I would never leave that disgusting blue
colored theme on a PC on mine.

Do yourself a favour and change it .
I guarantee it will improve your creativity.

Sure ..no problem...
But there's blue and then there's "blue".
That MS default blue is repulsive to say
the least.
Words that spring to mind:
Garish, tastelss, crass etc etc etc .

The whole default XP GUI setup is just
horrible...it's like they actually tried to
make it look as bad as possible.....

But you could try the gear in the store, you can't really try the software unless you're lucky and you can use a demo version which is limited in functionality. At a place where I lived many years ago the local music store offered a rent-until-you-buy policy for pretty much everything that they had. Its almost the same thing here except that theres nobody guarding it (which is why so many people bitch about it).

By the way, I'm a pretty poor student right now, and about to be even poorer. I've been through this, please don't tell me I don't know what its like to be really poor -- I'm glad I was able to afford what I do have (like my Oxygen8, which I got to try quite a while in the store before I bought it, hint!), but it looks like soon I won't be able to put much more money into my "Music" Piggy bank. Not like that bothers me, I've got the essentials for when I'm not busy doing schoolwork or working for money.

But I'm not complaining. I've been through this before, its just a matter of tightening the belt a bit until things look bright again. That's just how it goes. :)

My how the tides do change - I see now the witch hunt activity is directed at anyone decrying the use or promotion of warez.
Jokes are funny... I don't see this as a funny matter... because when developers crack down on warez the only people they hurt are legitimate users like you and me. Sure, you'll always have thieves, just like you'll always have illiteracy, but the prevalence of people using warez is making those devs who wouldn't normally do so, rush to get their code onto some intrusive protection scheme, like the dreaded dongle - in fact the delay of Amplitube 2 has been attributed to just that - getting their software on the latest syncrosoft protection. So who ultimately pays the cost of the extra time and expense these devs are taking, plus suffers the release delay? YOU, the legitimate user.

There's been much talk about how warez hurts developers, and it does, but when it really comes down to it, it hurts legitimate users just as much if not more. Consider all the intrusive copy protected levelled at us today, and who suffers - not Crack whores, but the people who actually buy the software. Could be that the price increases you complain of are due to the warez you joke about so flippantly.

And the previous analogy of demoing hardware in the store is flimsy, since it has major drawbacks of its own (time limit, proximity, noise and distraction, salespeople, not on your setup...) At least with a software demo you can try it on your own system, at your own leisure, and unannoyed by other people's noise or salesmanship - so what if it drops out or hisses every so often (better than the noise and distraction of Mr. 3-chord Joe Guitar), or times out after a week (better than the 1-2 hours you can squeeze in at the store). Software demos are surely much better than demoing hardware in a store - plus, when's the last time any store let you take a hardware unit home to try for free - if even for a day?! Most likely never.

I would never presume your financial status, but I want you to know that having gear and being rich are not the same. One thing happens as we grow as artists (it's been my experience anyway), we develop a set of values solely based on our art, mean while we all have our own values and mores based on our own morality. The two will cross paths many times, imo nothing should be done that conflicts with the other.

I feel they grow together, compromising one for the sake of the other is not that good an idea in the long run...:)
The highest form of knowledge is empathy, for it requires us to suspend our egos and live in another's world. It requires profound, purpose‐larger‐than‐the‐self kind of understanding.

Why doesn'T everybody give me a dollar? Not even ... one cent from every person in the world :D I'd be rich...
