Hello!
I've been playing with the demo of Quantum FX and like it. But, it doesn't come with a reverb module. How do the reverbs in Quantum FX sound?
Thanks!

Post

there are better reverbs around but they are quite usable.... still I think this is the main problem with QuantumFX

the dynamics are superb the new guitar amp is pretty cool but the reverb still lacks

Post

Yeah,
the reverbs arent the best, but the dynamics and filters are AMAZING

So, if I'm mainly looking at reverbs right now, this wouldn't be the way to go? I really like what QFX has to offer. I have the Princeton Room and Silverspike R2. I've been looking for a good plate and was going to buy the Masterverb, then I found this. Maybe I should get this and wait for the Princeton plate.
Mully- I know you like the Princeton roomverb, how does QFX stack up? By the way, I like the GUI's you made for the QFX!

The Princeton Stereo Room is way better than the Verbs in QuantumFX but honestly... if you have that and the R2 ,.. and are going to buy Masterverb

you don't need any more reverbs ;)

but hell yeah filters, amps and dynamics from QFX2 are simply awesome

I was thinking of buying Quantum FX instead of Masterverb.
Does QFX have a good plate?

I found instructions on the website on how to active the different modules. Cool.

i couldn`t believe my ears as i demoed it, it`s so flexible and as i believe highest possible quality in native reverbs ... it`s all i need now, exept from unusual stuff, which i use convolution for ...

QFX2 is excellent, but I wouldn't put it amongst the list if reverb only is what you're after. Having said that, it's definitely worth buying for all the weird FX possibilities it offers. If you have weird QFX FX followed by a really good separate reverb you're almost in heaven.

More and more, I use QFX instead of many other very capable modulation FX and delays etc. Apart from the fact they're all good quality, it's that you can route them however you want and build up complicated multiFX that is the show-stealer.

As an aside - I like the QFX reverb for guitars more than most others...but only for guitar. It just has that springy quality that sits very well with guitar. But I don't use their reverbs for general use.

EDIT: another option (although not the cheapest) is UAD for their EMT plate...just that you specifically mentioned plates. It's hard to beat, and for the price you get top notch compressors, limiters etc. The FlexiPak makes it just that bit more of an affordable option IMO. It's on my next-to-buy list as soon as my back pay comes in (hopefully next Thursday :hyper: )

Thanks Kritikon!
Yes, I'm primarily looking for reverb. I thought that if the verbs were great, I would buy QFX to get the whole package. I've been playing around with it and am not completely sold yet. However, I may still get it because I'm becoming addicted to building my own plugs!

Does anyone know what Dave has in store for further development? I've noticed the forum is real slow and the library has been taken down. Is he still working on QFX or is this as good as it gets?
I'm not being critical, just curious.
Oh yeah....UAD, I'll think about that too.

Copied from my reply on the QFX forum...
...QFX is our flagship product. We have been developing and supporting it for well over 4 years. This year we released a major upgrade and ported it to OSX, and we will continue to develop & support QFX for the forseeable future.

Right now, we're working on a couple of other products for imminent release, After that, we'll get the online user library back up & running...
Cheers,
Dave

If you want something modular like QFX so you can mix and match and make your own stuff Reaktor 5 is much better for reverb - the new Spacemaster that comes with it is superb and there are some other good ones in the user area.
