Are you ready for an unbelievable amount of downloadable REX2 sound packs on www.esoundz.com? They're coming VERY soon! Real acoustic drum kit grooves, inventive electronic beats, world rhythms, famous drummers, percussion, rhythm guitar, bass lines... Pucker up bulldog, it's time to party! (name the movie)

We're talking about some of the best REX2 files you've ever heard. Drummers who play with Prince, Peter Gabriel, Pat Metheny, Yes, King Crimson, P Diddy (that could be the first time anyone has ever said "King Crimson and then P Diddy" like that ;) Lauren Hill, Cameo, Sting, Genesis, Tears for Fears, Kevin Gilbert, Sheryl Crow, Chick Corea, Herbie Hancock... and a lot more.

So, if you use Reason, Stylus RMX, Cubase, ProTools 7, Logic, Kontakt, Intakt or anything else that reads REX2 file format then THIS IS THE MOTHERLOAD of FRESH loops and phrases.

I will let you know when we have them up for sale which should be starting some time next week. There will even be free REX files being given away too for members of esoundz (and membership is free so... www.esoundz.com might as well join!)

More news coming...

When John Blackwell played with Diddy though it was P Diddy. So, which do you use? He also plays with Prince now who is technically "The artist now known as Prince but was previously formerly known as Prince but before that was called PRINCE". ;) :D

I am thinking about call myself: The Fresh Puff Prince P Daddy Diddy D. For marketing purposes only. So long Squids and hello FPPPDDD!

Well, in all fairness, Sean Combs made the statement of name change only once I believe, and I don't know if it was even aired nationally. We'll let it slide this time. ;)

Of course, I'm just kidding around and could care less if you call him Diddy, pitty, or mother. :)

I do have to say though, The Fresh Puff Prince P Daddy Diddy D name change would be an excellent move!!!! :)

Are there any cheap (ie <US$50) REX2 players on the market? If not, well I guess that will count me out of the REX2/esoundz fun

You might be surprised at how many programs read Rex2 files though such as popular sequencer/DAWS like Cubase, Logic and now ProTools 7. Project 5 does too and of course Reason. Not sure about Fruity Loops.

Fruity Loops can read Rex2...

Wow. So it does. All this time and I didn't even notice it. It makes me wonder what else I've never noticed in FL Studio...

Thanks, Left Headphone. That's opened up a whole new world of fun for me. Now I can use all those REX2 loops from the first World Instruments Group Buy, instead of the larger WAV files! :hyper:

VSampler3 also reads REX2 I believe - although that's not sub-$50.

Was anyone else looking for a free REX player? Not sure if it does REX2, but it might be worth a try!

would be cool to have the complete groovecapsule as REX files. Maybe a special offer for Groove Capsule owners would be a nice idea ;)

We have some cool rex things to announce soon. I already let the cat out of the back on our Rock Grooves collection (because we're going to play some AT2 processed guitars over it for the demo). But, there is a lot more coming, especially in downloadable sound sets. We also have a rather large sized collection on DVDs which will include all of the Groove Capsule loops in Rex plus dare I say thousands more. ;) (and yes, GC owners can upgrade for less) Aha! Squids lets another cat poke his head out of the bag. Could it be the Squidsus RMX? ;) Nah. Well, it is not a plug-in we're working on for REX but sample libraries that you can use in anything you want and a lot of variety too (and they even work in Stylus RMX if that is what you like to use or FL Studio, Cubase, ProTools 7, Reason, Logic...).

Any rexquests? :)

What happened to the Joytown mulitrack loops, i.e., shipping in November? Will they be REXed as well?

Thanks.

You mean these? http://www.studioprofiles.com

Yes, those may very well be rexed as well. Although each one of those titles is 2 DVDs or more so that is different than what I was just describing which is a bit more like... well... ummm errr... ;) thousands of different rex files in every style and category (but mostly stereo as opposed to full multitrack with 16-20 different mic tracks).

We're getting a little loopy what can I say? But, this is really top quality stuff. I was just editing some loops about five minutes ago and I couldn't believe how good it sounded. I am really psyched to have this for my music. When you have all of this material at your fingertips you really feel like a producer with an unlimited budget to get the best "snare sound" or the best kick and toms, cymbals etc. Sometimes you just get lucky in recording (that's what Roger Nichols said when I asked him about the drum sound he got on "Everyone's Gone to the Movies"). So, I think we got REALLY lucky on some of these drum loop sessions. Although really we were benefiting off of top gear in great studios with excellent engineers and players with very rare custom or vintage equipment so I guess part of it is luck and part of it is just increasing your chances for capturing something GREAT! We've gone to great lengths traveling all over the place to get these incredible instruments and loops. In addition to the ones listed on that page we have Nick D'Virgilio (drummer for Spock's Beard, Genesis, TFF) and Jerry Marotta (drummer for Peter Gabriel, Sarah Mcglaughlin) and Ed Greene (drummer for Steely Dan) plus some other surprises. Incredible stuff. Nick played a ton of grooves including some Kevin Gilbert tracks and a bunch of Genesis tracks (it was actually recorded at Kevin's old studio on a vintage Premier kit with timbales and rotos... wicked!). Nick actually works for Sonic Reality full time now on the West Coast.

We're about to unleash the madness. The hold up was just to see who was going to be distributing them. It looks like it is going to be Sonic Reality going direct so of course www.esoundz.com will carry it and maybe other select dealers around the world. Some interesting things developing in this area. Oh, speaking of Steely Dan, you can also expect rex versions of the Steve Gadd loops we now have as well, plus tons of Latin Grooves and other world rhythms. It's all starting to come together isn't it?
