FREQUENCY CONTROLLED COMPRESSOR or NOISE GATE vst effect?
Does one exist?

If not, are there any SIDE CHAIN emulators out there in VST land?

ooooops, sorry..............I'm a newbie and didn't realize that Indigo would look so undreadable as a font color.

Hey Rick! Good to see you around here!

Cheers,

Bram

Kjaerhus GCO-1 has frequency dependent compression.

Can't think of any gates that do.

Post

Try Voxengo Soniformer (compressor) and Voxengo Redunoise (gate)
the the impotence of proofreading

Thanks, guys, and hi, Bram,
I hope you are doing well. I'll be debuting and performing with the new LOOPERLATIVE hardware live looping device at the winter NAMM in Anaheim...........I just took possession of the 2nd unit last night and am stoked.........it's really cool and powerful.

Come say hi at the LOOPERLATIVE BOOTH at NAMM if you read this.............be sure and let me know you are from the KVR forum. I'll be performing at 1,3 and 5 on Friday and SAturday and at 1 and 3 p.m. on Sunday. Cheers.

oh yeah, and I have a tribe at TRIBE.NET called the Audio Plugin Junkies Annonymous tribe.

We have shared a ton of resources about where to find free and shareware plugins for both Pc and Mac. If you come join (it's free and they don't ever give out mailing addresses)just search the archives............we've assembled a really impressive list of VST resources.

See ya all there.

Slim Slow Slider's stuff may be of use.

If there isn't an immediate solution, just use a sidechain gate/compresser and feed the sidechain input through a bandpass filter.

QuantumFX also has frequency-conscious compression. It has sidechains too...with the bonus of being a fully modular FX suite - so you can set up your own fancy compressors if you have the inclination.

Otium Compadre Beatpuncher also has (to a degree) - it has some preset Eq settings and you can widen/narrow the Q. It too has a sidechain.

But for first port of call I'd second checking out the Kjaerhus stuff.

T-Sledge is a freebie multiband - it's not what I'd call the best around, but definitely useable; although it's always had metering problems on my setups - both Win98SE and WinXP. And the GUI is microscopic :?

Wow, I've been on this forum for one day
and you guys completely solved all of my problems.

I will post all of your advice in the same thread at the Audio PLugin Junkies Annonymous tribe at TRIBE.NET so others will have the benefit of the information you guys have hipped me to.

Thanks a lot, If I can be of service to anyone, please let me know.

I have ways of saying thanks but we should probably discuss it off this forum.

Write me if you feel like it at

rickwalker(at sign)looppool(dot)com

thanks again, this place rocks.

www.digitalfishphones.com fish fillets has a gate called floorfish. It's still my go to gate plugin, as I haven't found a better one.

It has sidechain with frequency control.

Would be about time someone released a vst gate to end all gates...

Aleksey... hope you're listening... a wink is as good as a nudge...

Post

thanks, Kingston, but I think I'm missing something. I went to the floorfish site...........looked at the GUI on the plugin and I can see no side chain function.

Am I missing something?

Post

yeah,

the sidechain is hardwired. You control it using the Freq detect knob. Why not just install it? It's free.

Post

I have never understood what a noise gate is. Any help?
