Hopefully not breaching a taboo topic.

I can think of about 4 DJs at 4 different radio stations in Michigan that might give Chrysalid a spin given the press release and a copy of the CD. I've chatted with them all in the past about music; some of them several times, and think they might just put it on the air.

Right now, can't afford to buy 4 copies of the disc on my own.

Would it be o.k. with the other project participants to make 4 copies of my own purchased copy specifically for giving to radio stations for promotional purposes?

What say you all to that?

I certainly don't see anything wrong with that Scotty -- if they are used souly for promo purples. I know DJs expect free samps. Just don't be making copies and then selling them off at discounts...

I second that...
We need promo materials and it is too costly to use the actual cds (although there are some donated cds we can use).
If you take the promo-copy route then try to package it up somewhat, including the track list, project name, and website at a minimum.
If you have a color printer then it would be easy enough to print up some inserts.

I reckon if just a few KVR regulars were to slip a couple of copies to some of their local DJs, it would be qa massive help for our marketing cause. We've succeeded in making a super fine musical compilation, but what makes us successful from this point onwards is the sales and marketing -- and we've only just begun.

I was about to launch into a semi-political diatribe - but it wouldn't solve any problems.

I am truthfully and completely apolitical in my views, since I believe that MOST world leaders and their political support parties are hopelessly f**ked-up liars by their very nature and therefore deserve absolutely none of my respect, since they are ultimately out to support the powers that put them in office -- from corrupt generalissimos in China to the oil cartels and defense contractors in America. There is no such thing as a true democracy either, no matter how much propaganda and ideology-for-fools they dish out and we swallow. That's life.

But anyway, I'm a musician, so wtf do I know?

That said, I thought about not including the remark about Bush as it seems to detract from the point. However, the entire statement appears to be true -- NOLA really iS a shambles, as more than one local friend there has told me. So, whoever's fault it is, everyone needs to get fookin busy-bee. No matter who promises what in the government, in reality you and I are the ones that are ultimately responsible to and for our brothers and sisters, as it has been since the dawn of time.

So that's what we're doing here with our CDs. And, meager though the effort might seem, I've been told by more than a few that the very fact that 40-plus musicians from all over the world got together and actually *devoted* their efforts to help in the best way they could, so far outweighs, at least in sincerety, much of what the government has done. Two CDs from a bunch of poor bastards like us is a lot more than 'lip service', yeah? -- especially and not in the least a living statement of moral support and empathy.

Some stats: Thousands still dead, still dying and still sick, tens of thousands of people and businesses impoverished and children with no schools, hundreds of thousands displaced. Not much of a Christmas for a lot of people.

So, yeah, let's get busy and do marketing now!

The CDs will be available from CDBaby shortly and the preordered CDs will then ship immediately.
