Forgive my sampling ignorance, but what software do I need to create my own REX banks to import into Stylus RMX. Do I have to buy Reason? Noob question I realize but I haven't paid much attention to Reason (you can say that again)...

For the moment Beatcreator exports only REX1 files not REX2. Don't know if that is a showstopper for you.
He is working on more export formats though.

REX1 is mono only if I'm not wrong.. Really a sounddealbreaker--

Thanks dudes. I'll start investigating the ins and outs of these options.

BeatCreator is a real handy program for beat slicing (plus, Peter's new beta includes support for horizontal zoom levels down to 32:1!) However, I believe that RX2 support will never happend because the Propellorheads won't let other companies include REX 2 export in their apps. :(

I was surprised to see that it had REX1 support.

So were Propellerheads, allegedly.

The rumour is that there was some clever reverse engineering by Peter at Zero-X.

BeatCreator is a great product and is only $100.

Shane,
I bought Recycle used from fitch for 80 USF. There are some used copies floating around and the license transfer is easy.
Got an email a month or so ago from fitch and she was hoping to buy it back! That RMX is an awesome little package...it still amazes me today after having it from the start.....

Glad you posted this. I was just about to start a new thread (and may still have to). I wanted to know if you've had any problems creating materials in Recycle and importing them into StylusRMX? My main goal is to set up a long string of one shot samples in Recycle, say at 120 bpm, and bring that into StylusRMX via REX2. I'm not particularly interested in loops in the musical sense of that term, just the technical need to set up a loop of the samples so that they will be usable for the end user to create their own musical patterns.

I find that the RMX effects section is quite astounding, especially for taking glitch and DnB material to a new level. The other aspects of StylusRMX are just icing on the cake. I have a commercial product coming out soon and this is the next step for what I've already done.

Shane,
I am sure you have looked here already but the Spectrasonics website is full of tips and tricks and may give you a better explaination than I could. Check this page out:

I didn't have any problems importing REX files into RMX. I just checked the Spectrasonics website and couldn't find any related material in the video tutorials but I am sure I saw something at some point in the last year and bit....I may be wrong.
I think the thing with Recycle is that if you find it's not for you, someone will buy it so you don't have much to worry about with your investment.
Since RMX was released, I still say it is the most intuitive creative inducing bit of software on the market and the sound is top notch. With all the Xpanders out and soon to be released there isn't much you can't do with it. Go out and get yourself Recycle and as I said before, even if it isn't what you thought it should be, you will be able to sell it. (probably the same day you post it up for sale)
